Inline

edit

This template should support a parameter that changes the wording "This article incorporates text" to a more specific "One or more of the preceding sentences incorporates text" when used as an inline citation. Many other attribution templates do this, such as {{EB1911}} and {{Catholic Encyclopedia}}. In addition, this template should really support a page number(s) parameter. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 18:13, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Finnusertop: I tried to make new version which includes inline function as you said, at sandbox page (Template:Gray's/sandbox). No change about already existing function. New functionality is simply added and can be used through |inline=1.For example:
Input (no page specified)
{{Gray's/sandbox|inline=1}}
Output
One or more of the preceding sentences incorporates text in the public domain from the 20th edition of Gray's Anatomy (1918)
Input (specific page specified)
{{Gray's/sandbox|inline=1|page=55}}
Output
One or more of the preceding sentences incorporates text in the public domain from page 55 of  the 20th edition of Gray's Anatomy (1918)
Does this usable as inline template? If there is any ideas or opinions, please post that here or edit the page (Template:Gray's/sandbox). This is sandbox page, so safe whatever you edit.--Was a bee (talk) 11:18, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a million, Was a bee, that's exactly what I wanted. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:10, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Was a bee. As always, appreciating your work :). --Tom (LT) (talk) 04:18, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Some of the documentation was still referring to the sandbox (it caught me out ...); I've removed the document reference to the sandbox template, hoping that that's OK; apologies if I've got this wrong, as its not my usual editing territory. Klbrain (talk) 08:38, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

There is a problem in showing multiple page references like here. The presenting sentence in the reference is incorrect "... from page 798 of page 841 of page 816 of the 20th edition ...".Mojtabakd (talk) 22:36, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
