Any idea what colors should be used for win/loss? I found the original colors too similar. So, I changed them to what is used in the baseball and ice hockey game logs. Fbdave (talk) 22:59, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Use of ASCII codes
editTo further explain what happened with Lee's edit, replacing the ASCII (#) with number signs (#) is the wiki markup for creating a numbered list. All schedules using this template were rendered as:
{{{rank}}} {{{team}}}
for example. What exactly are you trying to clean up in this template? Can we place a <nowiki> tag on the symbols to avoid using the ASCII code? Hoof Hearted (talk) 18:02, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Just noticed this now (seven years later). I was using AWB to clean up articles on my watchlist. I assumed nothing bad would happen. You were correct to revert my change. — X96lee15 (talk) 13:28, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Leader fields
editIs there a way to add optional columns for high scorer, rebounder and assists? I would like to use this template next season and to be able to have the same information as I use at 2008–09_Michigan_Wolverines_men's_basketball_team#Schedule.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 13:00, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- I understand the thoughts about adding the team highs in the template, but is there a way we can adjust it to reduce the number of columns? On all of the team pages I use it on it looks very unorganized because of the large number of columns. One suggestion I have is to have it look something like this:
Date Time Opponent# Rank# Site TV Result Attendance Record November 10* 7:00 p.m. Mount Union
(Exhibition)James A. Rhodes Arena • Akron, Ohio W 88–38 1,0581–0Game Highs: Points: Marshall - 14; Rebounds: C. McKnight/Marshall - 9; Assists: Hitchens - 5 November 15* 2:00 p.m. Austin Peay James A. Rhodes Arena • Akron, Ohio L 80–77 2,3601–1Game Highs: Points: Hitchens - 10; Rebounds: Cvetinovic/B. McKnight - 5; Assists: McNeese/McClanahan - 2
- Can we make a change to this? Also, I think we should get a
|statsurl=
parameter. In the instructions, it tells us to put the stats link as a break underneath the score, but doing this isn't effective as the|overtime=
parameter goes immediately after the score, which in this case would go after the Stats link. –Nav talk to me or sign my guestbook 19:55, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. I've created a template for this format. Check Template:CBB schedule entry2 page. Thanks. — Philtro Talk 06:06, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Rankings
editI'm not familiar with this template syntax, but would love having rankings support an RV (received votes) entry. Currently anything in the rankings box adds the pound (#) sign, and a simple "if exists and not RV then display #" should fix it, but I durst not tinker here. ~Araignee (talk • contribs) 20:59, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Template is being discussed at WP:CBB
editThere is a discussion about the use of this template at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College Basketball#Request for consensus: Team stat leaders in schedule tables. I encourage any users who are knowledgeable of this template to chime in. Thanks. ~ Richmond96 T • C 01:38, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Order of score
editNoticed the documentation was updated as follows:
score = final score of the game (i.e. '63–68' or '[http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=400788981 63–68]')
I disagree with the example. For losses, I think the score should always be with the higher score first, since that's how it's typically written in prose (ex: "Team A beat Team B 68–63" not, "Team A beat Team B 63–68" — see "...to pull the Pistons to a thrilling 147-144 victory..."). — X96lee15 (talk) 18:57, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- In the case of schedules on team pages, the score of the team who's page you are on is to be written first, win or loss. This keeps a consistency so it is easy to see how many points a specific team scored each game.--Zach Pepsin (talk) 20:26, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
Making the gamename param in schedules small style
editI have tried some ideas out in the Sandbox recently for Template:CBB schedule entry and think that it would be good to consider making the 'gamename' parameter written in small font. In some cases, the game name can be very long (Example: "Great Alaska Shootout 3rd place game") and could be much longer than the length of the longest team name in a schedule. Changing the game name to be written in small font could potentially shorten the length of the column in many schedules, which sometimes is unnecessarily large. Would anyone like to comment before I make the change? --Zach Pepsin (talk) 20:24, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
- Yes. I am in favor of this, especially for those long tournament names. Another option I have considered and have used is a "</br>" between, for example, "Great Alaska Shootout" and "3rd place game". Don't know which I like better, perhaps you could experiment with both. ~ Richmond96 T • C 05:02, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
Spacing issues
editDoes anyone know the cause of the template spacing becoming all out of sorts when "rank=no"? See 2015–16 Campbell Fighting Camels basketball team. Ping @Zachlp:, @Dirtlawyer1: ~ Richmond96 T • C 04:59, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
- I looked into this and found the diff where the problem started in my sandbox edits. Unfortunately, the Template:CBB schedule entry/testcases page was incorrectly structured in that in the "no rank, no highs" section, the template that was listed as using the sandbox template was actually not, so no changed were visible. I have corrected the testcases page and also modified the schedule template to fix the issue. Thanks for alerting me! --Zach Pepsin (talk) 16:16, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

I would like to request edit for this protected template to include some changes implemented in /sandbox (diff):
- to add option for
|status=c
for cancelled and postponed games that spans up to 5 columns; so that rows need no more to be created manually; - to deprecate dubious
|w/l=
and utilize{{check winner by scores}}
to automate W/L/T results (note: parameter will be retained for backward compatilibity to those articles using|w/l=p
for postponed background); and - to update background color with better contrast ratio for cancelled and postponed games, color aligns with Template:N/a
Also, I noticed, is there really a |w/l=t
for tied results? Which article uses that?
Anyway, for above changes, I added new test cases at /testcases. Suggestions are very welcome. – McVahl (talk) 13:28, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- At least 14 articles use
|w/l=t
, including 2016–17 Gonzaga Bulldogs men's basketball team. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:16, 5 June 2020 (UTC)- With changes mentioned above,
|w/l=t
is still supported. Test cases for that parameter are supplied. Heads me up for any features affected, if any. – McVahl (talk) 16:29, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- With changes mentioned above,

Edit request includes:
- removed
|w/l=
to stop using it (some people keep reverting bot's edit, per discussed bot request, for no reason) - added tracker for unknown parameters
Please see diff here. Thanks. – McVahl (talk) 02:34, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

, since it will be detected by the unknown parameter check. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:41, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Won-loss record in forfeited games
editThe 2021–22 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team had to forfeit their December 22, 2021 game to the 2021–22 Providence Friars men's basketball team due to covid-19 issues. Per Big East Conference policy for the 2021–22 season, the forfeited game counts as a conference and overall loss for Georgetown and a conference and overall win for Providence. Problem: The template only allows for "p" for "postponement" or "c" for "cancellation." There is no "forfeit" option. So there is no way to reflect the W-L record after the forfeit (which for Georgetown would be 6-6 overall and 0-1 conference). If you use "p" or "c", you get the game in gray (not red for a loss/forfeit or green for a win/forfeit by the opponent), and yoiu get pretty much all the other information about the game (opponent, TV coverage, location, and a field to indicate no attendance) and a message about the reason for the forfeit, but the W-L column does not (and cannot) appear. Any ideas for a workaround or a template modification to allow the conference and overall W-L records to show in a forfeited game? Ideally, "forfeit" would appear in the "Score" field with some way of indicating which team forfeited, and the high scorer/high rebounder/high assister fields would be replaced by the message about the reason for the forfeit. I imagine this problem will keep recurring as the 2021–22 season and the covid-19 pandemic continue this winter. Mdnavman (talk) 12:11, 22 December 2021 (UTC)mdnavman
- Well, as of December 23, 2021, it's moot for the Big East, which rescinded the forfeit policy. Still, there needs to be a way to enter a forfeit as a CBB entry, showing the W-L record for each time after the forfeit and coloring it red or green. Someday, the forfeit issue willc come up again — and still might come up in other conferences even this season.Mdnavman (talk) 02:09, 25 December 2021 (UTC)mdnavman
