Other abbreviations

edit

Should this template include ER for European Record, and equivalents? I realise AR may be ambiguous and depend which continent is being discussed.

I've noticed other similar abbreviations, e.g. 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships has EL. From the context this seems to be a "Europe leading performance", i.e. best by a European (or possibly in Europe) so far this season. Should they go in too, or are they not notable? I could probably manage an EL or two myself if I set off at midnight at the start of the season! Certes (talk) 11:43, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

We need new abbreviations

edit

See 2018 European Athletics U18 Championships or 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships. Somebody can help? --Kasper2006 (talk) 08:54, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

And also the documentation could be more thorough. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 09:23, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

CR is Championships Record

edit

Please correct Championship. --Kasper2006 (talk) 05:06, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

What's wrong? Pelmeen10 (talk) 06:15, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
In fact the question is dubious. Perhaps because in Italian we use the plural of the competition and not the singular (it is "record dei campionati" and not "record del campionato"). I have to look for you some reliable source that also in English is more used championship in the plural approached to record. --Kasper2006 (talk) 06:21, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sync with athletics abbreviations article?

edit

A lot of athletics abbreviations are not included in this template, and a lot of abbreviations in this template are not documented in the article. Is this by design (i.e. do we want to streamline this template to focus on the most common abbreviations / we don't need to document every single abbreviation in the article)? Or should the template and article be 100% in sync?

Template examples not in article: HSR (high school record), OHB (Olympic heptathlon best), > (bent knee), some "bests" and "records" are lumped together in a single tool tip for either "best" or "record", such as WYB and WYR for World under-18 best.

Article examples not in template: PR (paralymic games record), ER (European record), AB (area best), most of the disqualification rule numbers, like DQ 40.1.

I also see an opportunity to alphabetize both entities to make future audits a little easier. I'm willing to sync them, but wanted to make sure I didn't miss an earlier consensus. Hoof Hearted (talk) 14:25, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
