"6HP26Z"

edit

The article describes the 6HP26Z and the Z suffix as indicative of all wheel drive. I don't believe this is true. Between first and second generation 6HP's there was a crossover period (gen 1.5) where some second generations boxes had mechatronics similar to first generation 6HP's. I do not have a direct citation but I believe the Z indicates one of these in between generation boxes with the higher 2nd generation torque rating, case, and internals but with 1st generation mechatronics. I believe the reference to "Z" suffix boxes as AWD boxes in this article to be erroneous. An example of this is the USDM BMW e90 335d (only came in rwd) only came with the 6HP28, but in BMW parts fiche it is sometimes referred to as the 6HP26Z. This can be seen on both newtis and realOEM. When rebuilding e90 335d 6HP28's you must know what version of mechantronics is used in each particular box (usually by referencing the sperator plate part number) because of the in-between generational differences (first or second generation mechatronics in a second generation case). I hope this is clear. Example

Second generation

edit

The section about 6HP19 says that it is the second generation of 6HP, which is wrong. The first generation is 6HP19, 6HP26 and 6HP32. Second is 6HP21, 6HP28 (and possibly 6HP34). However, the application list may be relevant to the second generation of 6HP and I don't want to change that.

Thanks for clarifying this. I simply merged the old 6HP19 and 6HP26 pages together yesterday, without making any material changes to the content. Feel free to make additional improvements as you see fit. Regards, OSX (talkcontributions) 09:15, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Technical data

edit

Data about Aisin, Ford, and GM-built transmissions in the technical data section is off topic and should be removed from the page. I would just delete it and state that it clearly does not belong. But I had nothing to do with the creation of the page and don't want to be rude. 73.228.222.112 (talk) 07:50, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
