We're on Women's Boat Races now! This should be interesting Jaguar 21:36, 24 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Initial comments

edit
  • The lead should be expanded slightly in order to summarise. Like the old Boat Races, who was the umpire? What was the finish time etc?
Umpire is currently unknown, finish time is already there. I'll see what more I can do to this though... The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "The Women's Boat Race is a side-by-side rowing" - Woman's Boat Race is already linked in the lead, though I have no objection if you want to keep this linked in the Background section
I will thus leave it linked! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Are Women's Boat Races normally held on the Thames? I checked Women's Boat Race article and couldn't find anything, so it might be worth mentioning if exceptions were made
Until 2015, the majority of the races were held on the River Thames, just at Henley. From 2015 they are also held on the Thames, just on the Tideway. Back in the day, the races were held on The Isis (also the Thames!) and the River Cam. I did think the women's race article had something to this effect in the infobox? • "number two Faye Sandford (who was earning her third Blue)" - which Blue?
Added for CUWBC. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "and American Apfelbaum" - Apfelbaum's first name is not mentioned here (unlike the others)
Because it's been mentioned in the previous sentence... The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Oops, I definitely missed that Jaguar 14:51, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

On hold

Like the other Boat Races, this one is compact and has a shot at becoming GA. All the above issues I could find were minor, so once they're out of the way I'll be happy to promote this. Good luck on the other Women's Boat Races; it's a new era for Wikipedia! Jaguar 21:46, 24 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Jaguar. I'll try to get to these comments at lunchtime today! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:05, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Jaguar. I'll tweak the lead a little and otherwise I've responded accordingly. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Done, lead expanded, I'll keep looking for the umpire... so far so unlucky... The Rambling Man (talk) 12:30, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Close - promoted

Thanks for addressing them, the article has now improved enough to meet the GA criteria. Don't worry about the umpire, I'm sure nobody would mind it being missing from a GA! Good luck on the rest of the Women's Boat Races too, I noticed a few red links?   Jaguar 14:52, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
