Jumping the gun

edit

The format may have changed on March 1st but the FCC has yet to approve the sale so several of these changes were a bit premature. Also, there's already a K-Love station in Michigan called WLVM so several things will need to happen when this station's call sign is actually changed. First, check the Michigan station's FCC database entry to find the new call sign and move WLVM accordingly. Next, update {{K-LOVE}}, {{Religious Radio Stations in Michigan}}, 88.3 FM, List of radio stations in Michigan, and List of FM radio stations in the United States by call sign (initial letters WK–WM). Finally, convert WLVM to a disambiguation page so that people looking for the Michigan station can learn the new call sign and people looking for the Alabama station can find their way to WLVM-FM. - Dravecky (talk) 08:13, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

For the record, I've moved this page back to WABB-FM for the time being. Keep in mind that our naming conventions regarding broadcast stations state that article titles involving broadcast stations will call signs should reflect the official call letters, and as of right now (March 1, 2012) that continues to be WABB-FM. Should at some point that link show some call sign other than WABB-FM as being assigned to the station at 97.5 FM in Mobile, Alabama (and that probably will happen eventually, as I doubt the Dittmans will allow EMF to use WABB-FM in the long run), then moves can be made… but until then, no matter what they may say on-air the call sign has not changed. WABB may be gone in other ways, but from the standpoint of the FCC it's still there for now… --WCQuidditch 13:09, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Amen. The only reason I didn't undo the move last night myself was the apprehension that the call sign change had been made official but that the database had yet to be updated. (It sometimes runs a day or so behind reality.) - Dravecky (talk) 15:25, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Turns out the call sign was changed to WLVM on March 2; the former WLVM in Michigan simultaneously turned into WKIW. (There's no "-FM" suffix, by the way; EMF usually refrains from suffixes unless there's an AM station with the call sign, which isn't the case with WLVM.) Apparently EMF still jumped the gun and used the new call sign a day early, thus prompting all this (even though 97.5 was still WABB-FM on March 1 to the FCC, despite "97-5 WABB" having ended in all other aspects and replaced with K-LOVE), but now it's settled, so it's just some edits and moves that need to be done now. --WCQuidditch 22:59, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
