About Nemanja Nikolics

Through Nikolics' mother he is half Hungarian, through his father he is half Serbian. He is close to the Hungarian national team because of the Hungarian citizenship, but Erwin Koeman figured him in his baggier squad already. We may propose a Hungarian citizen with a Hungarian nationality living in Hungary speaking in Hungarian as a Hungarian calmly. Infel has right. Crufjsa (talk) 14:41, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I don´t see any difference. You failed to provide any source on him being anyhow related to the Hungarian national team, and all I see is a Serbian footballer who doesn´t play as foreigner in Hungary because he has Hungarian passport along with Serbian one. As I said, I don´t know about this particular case. I only heard about him when I noteced that I needed to disambiguate Nemanja Nikolić (footballer born 1988) - Montenegrin international, because of this Nikolic playing in Hungary. However, I do care about the way of displaying the flags showing their football nationality, and not the passport a player may have on certain period of life. If this Nikolic has some connection to Hungarian NT, then it will be ok, otherwise, as I said, all I see is a Serbian player with Hungarian pasport. FkpCascais (talk) 15:33, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Same way, a Hungarian player in Serbia is displayed with Hungarian flag, despite having also Serbian passport, or mother, or any other circunstance. An Hungarian player would have displayed a Serbian flag ONLY if he has caps on some level of Serbian national teams (A team, U21, U19, etc.). FkpCascais (talk) 15:36, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

It is not about the passport. He was a Serbian citizen with a Hungarian nationality till now. And now he is a Hungarian citizen with a Hungarian nationality. He was NOT an (ethnic) Hungarian national any time, and he is NOT named Nikolics, but Nikolić. You arguments are week. He was born in Senta (Serbia), in a mixed family (so it mean 1-1, one parent Hungarian, one Serbian), and he was troughout time Serbian national (Serbian passport, which by the way, he still has!). Now, seems that he has Hungarian passport, as well, so again 1-1 (one passport Serbian, one Hungarian). The fact that he was born in Serbia, and the fact that he played as "Serbian footballer" troughout time, bring things mucvh closer for him to be considered Serbian footballer, beside the non-important fact that he has a pure Serbian name. Now, the sources say he was "eventually considered to form part of Hungarian NT", which by the way he hasn´t yet, so again, I´ll make a resume:

Points for the fact that he is Serbian:

• Born in Senta, Serbia.
• Holds Serbian passport.
• Ethnically mixed (from a mixed family, father Serbian, his mother Hungarian). Although not important, the name is 200% Serb.
• Played troughout his career as Serbian footballer.

Points for the fact to consider him Hungarian footballer:

• He receved Hungarian passport this year, having now both, Serbian and Hungarian.
• Mixed family, his mother is Hungarian, although we don´t know if it mean that she is from Hungary itslef, of is a member of the Hungarian minority in Serbia.
• Seems that the coach of Hungarian national team touth including him in the national team, although nothing concrete didn´t happend yet.

Now, I´ll ask for other people to share their opinion on this. I really don´t care that much cause he is unknown in Serbia, and I´ll be happy to see a Serbian player being better than Hungarian ones and getting a place in their national team, however, by now, all that seems still far away... The funniest thing is that the first source you gave me, here it is translated ( [1]), has as title: "Hungarian national team could be the strenght for Serbian at Rakocsi" Quite clear, right? Here is your second source translated ([2]), again, nothing concrete, and he even talks how difficult would be for him if eventually the Serbian national team would call him... The third source, here translated into English ([3]) shows him becoming Hungarian citizen (although, with double citizenship cause he still hold Serbian citizenship as well) and simply talks about the possibility of eventualy one day becoming Hungarian national team player... Sorry falks, but he still is a Serbian footballer with double citizenship, eventually becoming one day member of Hungarian NT. FkpCascais (talk) 18:58, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Comment As a general rule we take "player nationality" to mean "last national squad the player appeared for". If he did not appear for any then it's determined by his country of birth (in this case Serbia). This has been debated to death and no consensus was ever achieved. However, it is the currently used convention. Makes no difference how many other passports he holds. Timbouctou (talk) 19:07, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

MOL Fehérvár FC → Fehérvár FC – The MOL is a Hungarian oil company which financially supports the club. Sponsors should not appear in the title of a club's Wikipedia page. The UEFA has similar regulations, therefore MOL did not appear as the club's name in competitions. Szombathely is also supported by Switelsky but the supporter does not appear in the Wikipedia page. JohnFradi (talk) 04:57, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

• Support per nom. I agree with GiantSnowman. Sponsors should not appear in the name of sport clubs.
• I also support the idea of removing the abbrevation of the Hungarian oil company. The club's name was changed last year from Videoton to MOL Vidi and from the 1st o July 2019, it will be changed to MOL Fehérvár FC. I think the Wikipedia is not for advertisement so the oil company's name should be removed. Fehérvár FC would be a perfect solution since it represents the name o the town where the club is based at the moment Székesfehérvár.

Fehérvár FC → MOL Fehérvár FC – The MOL is a Hungarian company. The Red Bull is a Austrian brand name. FC Red Bull Salzburg playing in UEFA competitions as "FC Salzburg". Many stadiums has names with advertisement, but UEFA not use the trade names. Wikipedia using the fullnames of football clubs and stadiums like FC Red Bull Salzburg, MKE Ankaragücü, Mercedes-Benz Arena (Stuttgart), Emirates Stadium (UEFA: Arsenal Stadium) and others. We can't move the pages with different reasons. The fullname of the club is from the country federation MLSZ: MOL FEHÉRVÁR FC. --Userpepes (talk) 11:28, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
