Damien hirst's own site http://www.damienhirst.com/verity gives some detail, including a reference to the Degas pose. — Preceding unsigned comment added by U89djt (talkcontribs) 10:49, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

'Verity' is an Italian word?

edit

"The name of the piece refers to the Italian word for "truth" - er, I realise this is sourced, but surely the title refers to the English word 'verity' (truth).

The source is a tourist website, not an arts publication or the artist himself, and the actual text for the source is "The title 'Verity' is from the Italian word of Truth" (sic) which I think backs up my suspicion that this is not a totally reliable source.

Oh, and the Italian for 'truth' is 'Verità', not 'Verity'. --86.181.17.180 (talk) 10:10, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

If the consensus is that we have to take the tourist website's word for it and that the word 'verity' is not English, we need to rename WP:V to Wikipedia:Truthifiability. A working knowledge of Italian should not be required to understand the English Wikipedia's policies. --86.181.17.180 (talk) 10:13, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, drop that sentence. Even sourced statements can be a bunch of bull. We can't blindly accept everything on the Internet; let's keep our brains in use. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 13:51, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

This article needs a picture (or more than one) of its subject. Even asking the sculptor for one might work. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 13:53, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
