University of Applied Sciences DeggendorfDeggendorf Institute of Technology – per WP:COMMONNAME in English language

Can you provide some links for that? Whatever the decided name, the two pages should be merged. Aloneinthewild (talk) 21:00, 26 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Contest 28 April 2017

edit

With all due respect: the institution's chosen self-designation is "Deggendorf Institute of Technology", which is visible on the institutional website: https://www.th-deg.de/en/university. This corporate rebranding reflects the fact the university has officially been granted by the Bavarian Government the German-language title/designation of a "Technische Hochschule" subsequent to their winning of a federal state-wide competition for this title. A "Technische Hochschule" is not a standard "Fachhochschule" (University of Applied Sciences) anymore. There is not point whatsoever in insisting in an outdated and now simply inaccurate name. Strot (talk) 16:28, 28 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

You should open a move discussion as I did above, but with the new information. Hopefully enough users will answer as the last discussion did not attract many users. Aloneinthewild (talk) 10:50, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi Strot. I reverted you not because I disagreed with why you did it, but because of how you did it. Aloneinthewild is spot on. Open a move discussion. I'm sure the consensus, if your info is correct, will be to move the article. If the institution has indeed changed its name, then the article name should be changed. But the correct process would be to "move" the article title, rather than creating a redirect. Onel5969 TT me 11:46, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi everyone. So it is with pleasure that I hereby re-open the move discussion pointing at the above information. The institution's standard page should definitely be (re-named or moved to) "Deggendorf Institute of Technology". Strot (talk) 12:36, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Page update request from MartinaHeim, April 2021

edit

I'm requesting updates for the Wikipedia page of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology as the information currently displays numbers and info from 2016. I've taken out and re-phrased paragraphs that could sound like they're intended for marketing purposes. This update focuses on the most recent numbers of students and our whole range of degrees that we offer. It would be great if someone would update the page or get in touch with me if there are any further questions. Thank you!

  • Why it should be changed:

Information in this Wikipedia article is outdated (from 2015/2016) and needs updating. The update is mainly on adding the Technology Campuses, degree programmes and facts like the number of students. I changed everything so there wouldn't be any information intended for Marketing purposes. As I am not supposed to change the article directly, I request one of the admins to update the information or let me know what exact parts need to be changed to have the article updated. Thank you for your help.

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Hello, MartinaHeim
  1. Please do not add an entire article here on the talk page. It's overwhelming, confusing, and messes up the table of contents.
  2. The idea behind the "What I think should be changed" heading is that you point to a specific sentence, paragraph or maybe even section, and provide a replacement text. You have apparently replaced the entire article. Can't you go step-by-step, so that we can see and discuss your changes individually?
  3. That's an awful lot of text for being unsourced. I see that you threw five references in at the end ("References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button)", although you seem not to have used the "cite" button), but (1) they are general references, not the inline citations we require, and (2) they are all primary sources, not the reliable, third-party sources we expect.
  4. The new complete text you propose reads like a school brochure to me. With the partial exception of the first paragraph, it does not in any way resemble an encyclopedia article.
Sorry, but I'm not inclined to incorporate any part of your proposal. Others may find something to salvage, or may have the time to wade through references for you. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 14:18, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have added a history section, the rest of the information asked to add is suitable for may be the university website and not an encyclopedia. Its too promotional as JohnFromPinckney said. Closing the edit request as no further edits seem feasible. Please read WP:SOAPBOX, WP:NPV before making another request, MartinaHeim. Chirota (talk) 00:39, 8 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
