Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Lede edit

  • UEFA Euro 2008 Final was the final match of UEFA Euro 2008, the thirteenth edition of the UEFA European Football Championship, UEFA's competition for national football teams - awful lot of UEFA, maybe "The UEFA Euro 2008 Final was the final match of UEFA Euro 2008, which was the thirteenth edition of the UEFA European Football Championship. The competition run by UEFA, featured European national association football teams." At least then it isn't four UEFAs in one sentence. I've actually just chopped "UEFA" from the Euro 2008 and the Eurropean Football Championship links, I think they're quite commonly referred to without that anyway. If you don't like that I can always go with your split sentence variant though.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:26, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • That was pretty much what I was looking into doing, but assumed it wasn't right. Happy with this. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:21, 22 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I think before the lede goes into depths about how the teams did getting to the final, it might be worth saying just a sentence on how the event was played. I.e. group stage and knockout Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:17, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
    Done.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:26, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • defeating Italy on penalties in the quarter-final and Russia again in the semi-final. - missing a word here... Reads now like they beat them again on penalties. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:17, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Reworded to "a second victory over Russia"
  • started very poorly indeed". do we need "indeed"? It doesn't add anything. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:17, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

General edit

  • Qualifying rounds were played on a home-and-away round-robin tournament basis prior to the final tournament taking place in Austria and Switzerland, between 7 and 29 June 2008 - I think a brief overview of how the qualifying worked - how many teams in a group, how many total teams etc. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:30, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Germany had won the tournament three times before, in 1972 and in 1980 as West Germany, and in 1996 as Germany.[ - perhaps "Germany had won the title as West Germany in 1972 and 1980, and again in 1996 as Germany." Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:30, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
