Contested deletion edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the band has been cited on many music listening websites such as last.fm and REVERBNATION, where the band has its own page posted independently. The band has a significant number of listeners on these two websites, has performed on many popular tours (e.g. Warped Tour 2014), and has been signed for several years to Pure Noise Records. Being that the band has a.) significant coverage, b.) reliable sources covering them, and c.) secondary sources that are independent of the band, this page should not be speedily deleted for lack of notability/importance. --Wasiktir (talk) 20:38, 6 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Wasiktir, websites like that are considered to be routine database-esque sites where you can host music since in most cases the content/music is uploaded by the band or by someone representing them. What Wikipedia requires to show notability is coverage in independent and reliable sources like newspapers and the like (WP:RS). If they have been on tour then that can help give notability but it isn't a guarantee. Offhand if you can show any of this then I'm willing to decline the speedy, although you do need to be careful about what you post. Database type listings can't give notability but more importantly you need to be careful about posts like this one by Revolver. Revolver would be seen as a reliable source but this post is so brief that it's considered a WP:TRIVIAL source. It would possibly help save it from speedy deletion but can't really show overall notability to save it if it was nominated for deletion via WP:AfD. • Also be careful of reviews. I'm kind of searching now myself and somethign I came across was a review by Sputnikmusic. The thing about that site is that while staff reviews are usable to show notability (as far as I can tell), reviews by random users cannot. You can usually tell if it's a staff review because it will be marked as such (contributor, not user). Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:32, 7 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
