Cristita Mariano Bautista to whom the town was named migrated to America in Los Angeles. She is the older sister of Ansang Mariano Ruiz of Pasay City. Her eldest daughter is Erlinda.

Titay being located in the fulcrum of Zamboanga Peninsula was lucky to be traverse by the National Highway from Liloy to Ipil. Thus enjoy the best position in the economic progress of the whole peninsula. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.47.132 (talk) 08:44, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

History of Titay

edit

Titay was formerly a sitio of under the Municipality of Kabasalan.--121.54.58.133 (talk) 20:06, 20 June 2014 (UTC) Titay derived its name from the registration of a tiny village by the first Ilocano settlers who dedicate the place to their favorite cousin back in Luzon named Cristita Mariano Bautista nicknamed ^Titay^.121.54.58.133 (talk) 20:12, 20 June 2014 (UTC) Titay still have no name as it was just a big forest in the middle of the peninsula. Nobody would know that a highway would be built traversing the area. It was Custodio Pascua Mariano Sr. Registered Nurse and sanitary inspector who found the place and established a 120 hectare homestead. It was during that time that he invited his brothers and relatives to come to Mindanao and settle in the area. He even told them to apply 120 hectare homestead like him so they can have 1 square kilometer each. Most of his brothers and cousins are just interested in basakan or ricefield so they just got areas in Mayabang now Baranggay Namnama. Most ilokanos are not interested in upland farming. It was in 1961 that the national highway open traversing Liloy to Ipil passing Titay. He donated 1 hectare area for the Municipal Hall, one hectare for market site and 2 hectares for the church.--121.54.58.197 (talk) 10:38, 21 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Early Farmers of Titay

edit

The early farmers of the place were very self sufficient. They plant the old variety of rice which could reach until 6 months to harvest. That was the kind of rice that when you plant it you go back after 6 months just to harvest the palay. During the waiting time the farmers would have a lot of time doing other things like gardening, raising pigs and chicken including planting of sugarcane for mascovado sugar and basi wine. They dont sell their rice and just put them on tabungos a container made of bamboo. They butcher one pig just to make adobo to be stored in a big jar to be consumed for a longer period of time. They sell their vegetables just in exchange for salt ang bagoong in Sanito. Because they don use pesticides they get a lot of dalag and paltat including wild duck eggs on rice paddies.--121.54.58.136 (talk) 05:35, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
