Unnamed Section

edit

To the person who made the character chart or whoever wants to.

Make the character chart a more organized. I'm thinging breaking them up into these groups:

  • Heroes/Sidekicks
  • Villians
  • Returning Arcade characters
  • New Arcade characters.

In the Running Jokes section, the sentence In every course in the game (Except the last), there is a drunk or traumatized man sitting in the corner talking to himself (See Wikiquote link at bottom). doesn't make much sense to me. Should this be changed to: In every level of the game (Except the last), there is a drunk or traumatized man sitting in the corner talking to himself (See Wikiquote link at bottom).  ?

He isn't just sitting in a corner in every level, he's just often in a secluded part of the level away from guards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.165.155 (talk) 18:21, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Shawn of the dead only had Timesplitters 2 in. And i dont recal Future Perfect having a P90 in

Possible Inconsistencices Section

edit

I slightly cleaned some of the stuff in the Possible Inconsistencies/Goofs section but it still looks more like a debate in progress than a list of information. Most of the things in that section are minor inconsistencies derived from very minor details and are definitely highly debatable. I think most, if not all of these should be removed because they're mostly argueable one way or another and pretty much uninteresting even if they are "goofs". Does anybody agree or disagree? My God.... what have I done.

edit

The post below me does proove a point. When I worked on this article a year back I wouldn't know what a mess it would become. Here's my suggestion on how to clear it up.

  • I'm putting together a seperate list article for TimeSplitter Characters. Kinda like the DBZ character list. Despite being a fan of the series I lack knowledge of most characters (forgot them or haven't unlocked them) I can't get all the info. I urge everyone to get the characters and make a detail description of the character. I'm working on some temporary icons that will be used to define where the character came from. (what was its first apperance)
  • The trivia I put down was from common sense of the things I knew. As of right now its out of control. We need some backed sources.
  • The trivia portion on monkies can be moved to an actual article of the series.
  • Should we make separate articles for the Multiplayer maps and weapons?

Thats what I have. I'll do what I can from here. Give me a hand. I don't think the article needs every single detail about the game.

Wow, these articles are really convoluted. I recently got a copy of TS3, so I will gladly contribute some character info to the list. --AceHarding 22:27, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

My GOD

edit

This godforsaken article has been completely destroyed, apparently by someone who couldn't get their FAQ put on a site. For the love of Christ, someone fix it, I'm too lazy. 68.118.234.84 06:29, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Arcade Levels Section

edit

This needs to be cleaned up. Example: When referring to the Mars Prison map, "There is one thing I have noticed though, is that when on any mode but assualt the cells will be locked off which dissapointed me..."

The rest of the section is rife with comments like these.

Stargate SG-1 References?

edit

In the beginning of the third-to-last level, you walk into a room and you hear something along the lines of "Security team to (whatever room you are in.)." And then "We're opening the iris." Then, something that looks extremely similar to the iris that covers the stargate in the show opens up in front of you so that you can move on.

There appear to be a few other references to SG-1 in this level, as well. Such as the room that contains the controls to the iris. This small room is similar to the gate control room in SG-1 in that it contains the controls to the Iris, and you can see into the room were the level started. In that room, there is a ramp leading to the sub that you used to enter the level with. This ramp looks like the one that leads to the stargate.

There are also several smaller irises throught the level.

At the end of the level, there is a time portal that the assasins are going through that looks very much like a stargate. You can examine it on the final level.

I've just played that level, and I did notice those things too. I'm not a great SG fan, though, so until you said so, they passed me by. I'm not sure if it would be supported enough to add to the article, though.

Who is the announcer?

edit

He says all the objectives in Assault mode and counts down etc. He sound eerily like Tony the Tiger. Who is the actual voice actor?

The same guy who doe's the voice of Tony the Tiger, he did the voice of Schimt and Leo Krupps as well. Shock 22:31, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Character bios

edit

It seems to me a lot TS characters- C. Ash, J. Queen, etc.- each have their own page which is usally one or two paragraghs long. Perhaps they should be merged into a "Minor Timesplitter Characters" page? Just a thought.

Article Comments

edit

Weapons

edit
  • In "Other", I think the description for the Mag-Charger could do with being de-personalised- surely the fact that it's " A handy gun that can fold up to fit in a pocket" is irrelevant for most Wikipedia users? If not deletion, I'd suggest a little clear-up there, which I'd be happy to do.

Automatics

edit

Pop-Culture References

edit
  • I think these could be broken down into smaller sections- some of the material is repeated in Inside Jokes anyway (such as the Jo-Beth references).

General

edit
  • Mixed use of parentheses and brackets makes the article look untidy to me: any objections if I unify them?
  • I got an "error" page from the link to the TS wiki: any objections if I remove it (after testing it again first)?
I'll try and get round to cleaning this up when I have more time, but if you feel the urge, make a start!

"The game states that "The Russian Connection" and "The Khallos Express" take place after the "Atomsmasher" level in TS2, however, those levels take place in 1969, which is three years before "Atomsmasher"." Where does the game state that? Addendum: You kill Khallos at the end of the Atom Smasher level. If Atom Smasher takes place before the Khallos Express, he must be a hell of a good scientist in order to be alive three years later.

Ok, good point :)

oops. I'm sorry, the game doesn't state that, it merely implies it. I'll go fix that.

Minor Chars. list.

edit

We need a minor chars. list for all the people with stubs.

Pop culture references

edit

Some of those in the list (Shaun of the Dead, Aliens, Futurama, Citizen Kane) are pretty obvious, but other similarities listed as pop culture references seem a little dubious. I mean...

  • During the same fight with "Princess" a captive Jo-Beth Casey is lowered down above the pit of lava containing the creature in a cage. This is a reference to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Surely such set-pieces have been used in numerous films - presumably in the movie serials that inspired the Indy series.

  • "The Khallos Express" mission may be a reference to the train sequence in the film and the game GoldenEye 007. Four of the development staff on Future Perfect worked for Rare on the GoldenEye game.

Though it inherits some things from GoldenEye 007 (the health HUD, "on and moving" manual aiming system), not everything has to be a reference - after all, it was only four of them! Loads of games have had levels set on trains. It's not as distinctive as the dam setting of TS2's first level, anyway.

While it's nice to have a list of them all these references in one place, Wikipedia isn't that place. The list needs to be reduced fairly significantly; take a look at Wikipedia:Trivia and Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles. --Nick RTalk 22:35, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. The list is ridiculously large. I might cut out some of the minor references and generic or disputable ones (such as the Khallos Express) later, unless anyone has any objections. --Emperor Wu 12:54, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think I may remove all the lists and create a trivia section describing the fact that there are so many references to popular media, but it will not describe all of them. There are way too many to do so. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions05:06, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Freak

edit

I believe The Freak is actually hybrid mutant of Timesplitters 2 in a new appereance, but his head can't be cut off and also Hybrid Mutant in TS2 is in the 1990 era but The Freak is in the 2050 era in Future Perfect.

The freak looks like a Timesplitter in some ways. Look at the left side of his body. Timesplitter hands look like just like that. Also, look at one side of his head. Timesplitters may not have eyes, but their faces kind of look like The Freak's.

This is not a forum. The Freak's origin is, in no way, relevant in TimeSplitters or anything else. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions05:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

timesplitters 4

edit

free radical is now workin on haze but i saw a picture that shows a character from timesplitters 4 in ps3. he is hooded and he looks like cortez but in older age. what do you know about the new timesplitters? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.76.46.236 (talkcontribs) 10:44, September 14, 2006

If anything, it was likely a reference or in-joke. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 02:24, 15 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, Free Radical is working on TimeSplitters 4. But an older Cortez? One dude that works for them said that they're possibly planning to make it a no-story arcade-style game. See TimeSplitters 4's talk page for what I'm talking about. On a side note, this talk page is really for discussion about the article - not the actual game (well actually, you're not even talking about this game). King Wagga 14:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Free Radical said it's going to be a mockery of everything gaming, so if it is an 'older Cortez', then I'm guessing it's a mockery of Metal Gear Solid 4. 82.7.123.76 17:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC) That was me, wasn't signed in. Leemorrison 17:04, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fancruf

edit

Do you realize almost this whole article is fancruff?

That's true; I fixed that somewhat. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions05:03, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Monkey Gun

edit

Can we get some consensus please on what this gun is? How it resembles in any way a Mag Charger is beyond me - it is clearly an SPB500, as it is an automatic machine gun unloading a 64 bullet round all at once. Yet whenever I change Mag Charger to SPB500 it always gets changed back.

I've brought it up here so we can get some consensus, and to stop the revert war (I'm not going to stop changing it to SPB500, as I want the article to actually be accurate). Thanks Addyboy 02:47, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's design resembles a Mag Charger, in its entirety. It's clip size resembles the SPB500. Perhaps you should actually go back and check on how the SPB500, Mag Charger, and Monkey Gun look before changing it back. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions07:09, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Also, go check out what the TimeSplitters' wiki has to say about it. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions07:37, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article makes me laugh-

eh I don't really feel like it or want to do it. Besides, it will be fun to watch how this article improves. -Wi Account ki 20:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's not going to improve with attitudes like that. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions23:54, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's not going to improve with attitudes like that either. If it gets improved then good, ifnot then oh well. There are lots of articles that need redoing and nothing is being down about them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.181.237.43 (talk) 10:54, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Parodic content

edit

I understand that there was a lot of cleanup on this article, but I was extremely surprised to see that there is absolutely no mention of the nonstop parody of various other games in the one-player game. The beginning of the 2052 section is an exact, 1-to-1 copy of the beginning of Duke Nukem 3D. There is a room in the 1994 section (already a spoof of survival horror) that corresponds directly to the room of the Eddie boss fight in Silent Hill 2. You're even reminded that your name is "Gordon" in a level where science gone wrong forces you to don the uniform of a scientist. I guess we're just ignoring this now because of a previous horrible trivia section? Universaladdress 08:56, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict) No that was prodded...by me. Then the remaining section was removed....but not by me. It got out of hand before, ending up being an article which simply listed every single reference to other games. The remaining section seemed okay, but was also removed as listcruft and fancruft. If you want to add it in, I would recommend adding, with prose, a sentence that explains why the parody references in the game are significance in general. I would also think that references to a third party source for each one would be good. This may seem like overdoing it, but if you intend to add these in there must be no question as the encyclopedic quality of the section; after all, we have seen how easily it falls into trivia.--Clyde (talk) 15:11, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • Fair enough. I do think there is a case for mentioning the references in this game in some way, as there is an awful lot of them - it's justified to suggest that a fairly major component of the way the game is designed is to parody games and films and the like in the way that it does and to make no note whatsoever of any references is to me making the article incomplete. But like you said, making it encyclopaedic is the key.Addyboy 00:02, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
edit

I just asking to see if it is okay with people so I can have a link that goes to a page with more info. It is on glitches although the link goes to a page that could involve promotion. In this case it wasn't my article and i merely found it and thought it would be nice addition. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilikehamrs (talkcontribs) 01:51, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unencyclopedic addition that keeps being made

edit

I refer to the following paragraph: with comprehensive and in-depth detailed statistics of all players on EA Games' website. XtR3Me SpliTt3r was highly regarded as TimeSplitters: Future Perfect's best player of all time, staying on top of the Xbox Live standings for the majority of the game's lifetime.

The above is being consistently added by user RyanJak and now an IP. I'm wary of violating 3RR, but I see it as unencyclopedic, and indeed it has been removed twice before the last day or so after being added by RyanJak, whose only contributions to Wikipedia thus far have been to add this text. I do not feel the article is improved by knowing who the supposed best player of all time is, especially given the user himself has admitted it is no longer cited on the website. Please, can anyone who sees this remove it, or else cite it/tell me why it belongs? Thanks. Caissa's DeathAngel (talk) 01:16, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
