Fair use rationale for Image:LRSMark.jpg

edit

Image:LRSMark.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Isn't this simply an ad for the company?

edit

All this article does is provide a platform for this (atrocious) service. It does not contribute to public knowledge in any way. it is comparable to having an entry for a local taxi company with their routes and tariffs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.21.146.104 (talk) 21:20, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Builder of Hunt Class Mark 2 ferries

edit

When I changed the Vessel table entry for Hunt Class Mk2 from Incat to Wight Shipyard, User:Chris j wood immediately changed it back to Incat. This confuses me as the fleet page on Thames Clippers website clearly states they were built by Wight Shipyard. Both classes of ferry were designed by One2Three naval architects, but Mk 1 versions were built in Hobart by Incat and the Mk 2s were built by Wight Shipyard Company in the Isle of Wight.

So my question is: Why delete the change and revert to inaccurately showing that the Mk 2 ferries were built by Incat? If it's just that Chris j wood didn't like my wording or something like that, could he please rephrase my edit in his preferred manner. If it's for some other reason please respond here, otherwise I'll re-do my edit in a week or two. Thanks, --Bogong (talk) 00:16, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Bogong: Apologies, it wasn't a deliberate change. I was updating the table to include images, and because that is a fairly time consuming change to find appropriate images, I did it to a copy in my sandbox. When I applied the changed table back to the article, I failed to spot you had changed it since I took the copy. I've reapplied your changes. Incidentally, I was aware of the error you corrected, and I also think the builder info is wrong for all the 2007/2008 generation also (according to Thames Clipper they were built in Brisbane rather than Cairns). When I get the chance I'll research and change that too, but if you want to jump in, please feel free. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 10:44, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

No worries Chris, I hoped it was just a simple oversight like you mentioned. I've had a few problems with a self appointed guardian of another shipping related Wikipedia page who deletes almost everything that he doesn't do himself, but looking at your edits you don't appear to be that type of person and it looks like you're a really decent contributor. I'm currently working on an expansion of the Incat page and when I've finished, I may do some work on the page for their arch-rival Austal, so I'll leave Thames Clippers to you. Keep up the good work! --Bogong (talk) 12:48, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I've now made the changes. You might like to note that, in doing so, I've added a new stub article for BSC Marine Group of Brisbane, who built six vessels for Thames Clippers. I don't know how they compare to Incat or Austal. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 16:37, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
