University of Cape Town Building fire

Possible impact on the Bolus Herbarium (housed in the HW Pearson building) is relevant when a source can be found. Zaian (talk) 20:55, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

The only reference I been able to find for this (destroyed buildings at UCT) so far has been from The South African. As a source it is frowned on as being a bit of a tabloid even though what they say in this article is correct.--Discott (talk) 20:56, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Yes, because the lead says "2021 Table Mountain Fire." So do the others, such as 2009 Table Mountain Fire. --Cutlass^Ciera 20:27, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

The names of the other fires at this location should be renamed to fit the style of the title of this article. Year first is standard. Fire isn't a proper noun, so it shouldn't begin with a capital letter. Jim Michael (talk) 07:55, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Are we really lending credence to the "mountain dwelling vagrant" terminology and theory? That seems like something not worth mentioning in the stereotyping abstract, and not worth mentioning at all until it is substantiated. – SJ + 03:47, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

There are reliable sources saying that it was started by a vagrant, but I agree that the page Bergie should not be linked (and probably shouldn't be on WP either). Zaian (talk) 10:00, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Photographs

I added a photograph I took today to illustrate the fire in the infobox. It is not the best photo of the event nor is it iconic of the blaze at UCT but it can be a place holder image until a better one is uploaded.--Discott (talk) 09:59, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

The fire photo--great, but permitted?

I am not sure. The uploader of that photo has had 2 images tagged for deletion before due to missing permission information. I may revert back to the version made by Discott if necessary. Deauthorized. ^(talk) 13:33, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
