Erroneus claims of remake... edit

The details announced at the Star Ocean Special Show revealed that SO2SE was a port while FP was getting the full remake treatment, but now a lot of sites are suddenly reporting its remake status even though the actual updates are only on the level of an updated port. What should we do?--Claude 23:33, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

No other enhanced remake has it's own page unless it is very much different from the original, and even then, they're usually still on the same page. If it turns out that this game gets very different than the original, we can bring them back apart, but as it stands now, they should probably stay together. If no one opposes, I'll merge. Oppose, for same reasons I stated on the First Departure page.--Claude 04:35, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Undecided, This title will have numerous changes made to it. However, at the current time, not much is known about what these changes will be. Normally, I would agree to merge these two pages. I can not say oppose or approve at this junction becuase I realize just how easy it is to merge two topics, while how difficult (nigh impossible) it is to seperate them. This game will eventually have more than enough information to be notable enough to have its own page, however at the moment it does not. I do believe that you are factually incorrect about the whole enhanced remake not having individual pages comment. Many other enhanced remakes, especially Square-Enix titles, have seperate pages Final Fantasy IV DS for example. 64.129.86.8 (talk) 21:32, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

How about This edit

How about just wait until the game gets released? I don't think it's fair to call the game simply a port when it is adding on two new characters. Not to mention new content. Fully voice dialogue, etc. There's no arguing that this is basically a remake of So2 but it's also adding new features. Therefore, I don't think it's a port but it's not the same game either. It's somewhere in between. It's a remake with add ons. If Yamagishi wants the remakes to feel like two totally different games, then why don't we treat them as such until we find out otherwise. This is even MORE TRUE for First Departure. How on earth can First Departure be a direct port of Star Ocean when it has the Star Ocean 2 battle engine? According to these entries and some other news I've read, it seems that both of the remakes have a fair amount of new things. Being a tri-ace fan since 1998, I'd advise you probably just wait. This isn't just like comparing Valkyrie Profile and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This is much different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.191.51.145 (talk) 22:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

However though, I'm not opposed to merging the two articles as long as you make it clear that this game is a remake with add ons which was released later on. Also, the Star Ocean: the Second Story article should not be deleted or replaced by this. As long as you make it clear that they are two different things. For example, I don't think it was neccesary to replace Valkyrie Profile with Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. Just because a remake is made doesn't make the original article obsolete. Instead of adding things about the original Valkyrie Profile to the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth article, it should have been done the other way around. A reference to VP Lenneth should have been made in the Valkyrie Profile article and the VP article should have been kept. Likewise, if you do anything with this, I think it would be wise to keep the Star Ocean: Second Story article and simply add the information about Second Evolution onto it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.191.51.145 (talk) 22:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

US Release? edit

Just wondering why no one has edited the page to say that the game is coming out in the US. I know Game Informer said it was. If y'all need me to look up issue and page I can try to find it again, but I'm almost positive it said it was coming out in the US in 2008. Rpgking4 (talk) 04:10, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It appears to be on the gamefly website for a Sept 30th release along side The First Departure Both trade marks are registered so it stands a good chance of comming state side, but I would wait till I see it on at least amazon and some website like ign before editing wiki. -ignitus 7/june/2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.183.38.88 (talk) 23:53, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Developers edit

Seeing as the PSP remakes of SO1 & 2 were announced at the same time, and therefore were/are being worked on at the same time, I think it might be safe to assume that TOSE is handling this game as it did for First Departure. Therefore I'm changing the developer box to reflect the same in the FD article. Feel free to change it back if you can figure a good reason to do so.Yellow Mage (talk) 09:19, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I changed it back. Reason: pure speculation. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 14:03, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

RE: My edit on at 21:33 on 2010 April 29 edit

Someone had added voice acting credits for people who did not work on this game and removed someone who had. I cannot provide any further proof other than the end-game credits, but I am Tan Nguyen, and I was working at Nanica, Inc. at the time to provide the localization and voiceover production for this game. I know for a fact that Luci Christian and Sean Schemmel did not work on this project, because I did not work with them on this project.
