Vulgarities
edit"The names of shooters are quite varied, and some of them incorporate vulgarities for shock value and word-of-mouth advertising."
I know nothing about drinking culture. What would be a few examples of this? Sigil93dotNet (talk) 06:17, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

A shot is not always a mixed drink
editNote that "shot (alcohol)" is a redirect to this article. However, this article is entitled "shooter (mixed drink)" and says that a shooter is a mixed drink. It seems pretty obvious that sometimes people will drink a "shot" of alcohol that is not a mixed drink – for example, it is common to drink a "shot" of whisky. Obviously, whisky is not a mixed drink. It seems like there should either be a different article created for the concept of a "shot", or the scope of this article should be broadened to include non-mixed drinks. Which is better? I notice that there is a "shot glass" article, but that is primary about the glassware, not the drink itself. Should "shot (alcohol)" become a redirect to "shot glass" instead of a redirect to "shooter (mixed drink)"? (However, I believe that in informal discussions, it is possible to refer to drinking a shot of something without necessarily meaning that a shot glass will be used.) —BarrelProof (talk) 23:43, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- I made some changes on the relevant pages. "Shooter" is a neologism that isn't even in the dictionaries yet, whereas "shot" is an ancient term. So there's bound to be some confusion. Wahrmund (talk) 01:51, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- This is a confusion that seems to have developed only in recent years. Before that, a shot was known universally as a single-portion of any kind of spirits. Shooters have (since at least the 1980s) meant a mixed drink intended to be drunk in a single gulp. 142.181.247.43 (talk) 15:11, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Images of unknown drinks?
editThere are images of drinks not mentioned in the article. Shouldn't they either be removed or have their descriptions added? 84.250.167.255 (talk) 15:36, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
