Sandal, usually plural, is derived from the Greek sandalon (σανδαλον) meaning "wooden sole", bound to the foot using straps at the instep and ankle; in Latin "sandalium". The Greek is surmised to have been derived from a Persian word.

Discussion regarding possible redirect

edit

Might I make a recommendation? Instead of having a dabbed page titled "Sandal," the article pertaining to the footwear is moved to Sandal and this page is moved to Sandal (disambiguation). Thoughts? Valtoras (talk) 21:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Sandal (footwear) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RFC bot 10:30, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
