Construction started in 1947 or in 1949?
editThe page here states (since the beginning) that the construction had started in 1949. Russian Wiki says 1947, this text also suggests year 1947, this Russian book has in its title years 1947-55.
I am not enough bold to change it, I don't know enough about it, just noticed a discrepance between wikies. Pavel Vozenilek (talk) 18:21, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Cost in manpower
editThe lede says that "hundreds of thousands /of the camp workers/ perished". Hundreds of thousands died on this project alone? The statement is 1) not found in the main body of the article, 2) not found in the sources linked to it in the lede (one of the two sources is a dead link, by the way) and 3) very unlikely. I'm not making any effort to defend Stalin, but a figure of hundreds of thousands in whatever secondary source most likely referred to the total number of forced labour in the region during those years, or something like that. I'm removing the statement and replacing with "a large number perished". 195.67.149.160 (talk) 10:44, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
