There are only 2 Salamancas in Spain with an existing article on Wikipedia, the city of Salamanca and the district of Madrid Salamanca (Madrid). The problem is that the first one was controlled by the Kingdom of León (which was an Almohad ally) and the district of Madrid did not exist at the time of the sacking. Does anyone know if there is another Salamanca in Spain where this event could have occurred? RobertJohnson35 (talk) 18:43, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

did you read the sources? Tahanido (talk) 18:55, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, they mention that, after attacking Toledo, the cities of "Salamanca", Alcalá, Madrid and Guadalajara were also attacked. But if you look in a map of Spain, Salamanca is too far from these cities which gives me more reasons to doubt whether it really was the Salamanca that is so well known (Since, as I mentioned before, it was also controlled by the Kingdom of Leon). As I said there can be more "Salamanca", probably in one of the Spanish provinces of Toledo, Guadalajara or Madrid.
Also, I just noticed the second source says "He (Yaqub) headed gea north of Toledo, towards Salamanca" and the Salamanca linked in the article is not in the north of Toledo. RobertJohnson35 (talk) 19:10, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
there's a source that said that alphonse was in salamanca Tahanido (talk) 19:14, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
The second source says he was in Toledo (and the article says that the entire population of "Salamanca" was killed or enslaved). I'm not saying that there was no place called "Salamanca" that was sacked, I'm saying that place was not this Salamanca (the one near Portugal). I'm still looking for the exact location. @Tahanido I found the location of the sack, it happened in Talamanca de Jarama. There are sources that say it was "Talamanca"[1][2][3][4][5][6] so it was probably a confusion. This makes sense if you look in a map at the cities already mentioned above and Talamanca and you will see that they are very close to each other. We should rename the article to "Sack of Talamanca (1196)" (It's just a rename, there will be no further changes to the article apart from changing "Salamanca" to "Talamanca"), do you agree? oh sorry i agree . Tahanido (talk) 20:26, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry, I understand the confusion. I'm going to move the article to "Sack of Talamanca de Jarama (1196)" RobertJohnson35 (talk) 20:30, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just sack of talamanca. Tahanido (talk) 20:34, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alright, but the full name of the city is "Talamanca de Jarama", if you link the word "Talamanca" it takes you to a disambiguation page RobertJohnson35 (talk) 20:42, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
okay thank you Tahanido (talk) 20:43, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
