The result of the move request was: page not moved. Per discussion below, I'm not moving the page to the suggested title. If anyone is concerned about the diacritic, I suggest a separate request to have that conversation. - GTBacchus(talk) 08:44, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Québec Capitales → Les Capitales de Québec –
I've suggested moving this page to Les Capitales de Québec (over redirect) because that is how the team's name appears on their official web site. I will note that I've also noticed that the team is referred to as the Québec Les Capitales at the site for the Can-Am League. Since I don't see "Québec Capitales" anywhere on either page, I'm fairly sure the page needs to be moved somewhere, but I wanted to get some input from folks who are perhaps more familiar with the topic. -Dewelar (talk) 21:50, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: The official name, as well as its French name, are irrelevant. Per Wikipedia:Article titles and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), the title should be the most comment name used in the majority of reliable English-language sources. What do these third-party media and other sources say? And it does not help the issue when many of the league's other teams' web sites seem to just list it as "Quebec Capitales". - Well, the reason I originally started to research this is that Baseball-Reference.com, which is one of our most trusted sources for baseball-related information, lists the team as Les Capitales de Quebec. A quick search of Google brings up 42,600 hits for the current page name, 27,000 for the official French name, and 22,500 hits for "Quebec Les Capitales". Not sure how much to trust that, but it does show that all three names are used (with the caveat that some unknown number of the hits for the current page name are influenced by Wikipedia itself). -Dewelar (talk) 03:57, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Oppose The New York Times says, "Quebec Capitales." So does the Toronto Sun Kauffner (talk) 07:57, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comment - I've left notes ([1][2][3]) at three WikiProjects to which this page is relevant. Perhaps we'll get some more input, because the current discussion doesn't show a consensus one way or the other. -GTBacchus(talk) 18:24, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose Standard practice on French Wikipedia is to name North American professional sports clubs in French under WP:ASTONISH (ex. Yankees de New York). The English Wikipedia should use English names under the same principle. Bouchecl (talk) 19:55, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - Keep it English on the English Wikipedia. The hockey team is Le Club de Hockey Canadien, but in the English-speaking world they're the Montreal Canadians. In fact, I'm surprised someone hasn't challenged the non-English spelling "Québec". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:06, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:USEENGLISH. Heck, the accent mark should be dropped per WP:USEENGLISH; "Quebec" has no accent in English. oknazevad (talk) 04:10, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, per WP:DIACRITIC, that's kind of a grey area even within English usage. -Dewelar (talk) 14:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Baseball
editMy grandson Michael Thiesen is on the capitelli's baseball team. He is really doing well with the team. I am glad to see there and playoffs. 2600:6C67:897F:FD1B:80D7:1A7E:18D5:A3A7 (talk) 02:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
