Birth date query

edit

Someone inserted the following after his birth date in the lede para:

  • [Groves and Classicalmanac.com say 3 SEP 1596].

I've taken it out, but maybe it needs following up. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 21:53, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reverted Change which was a reference to a youtube video.

edit

An edit claimed that Amati was " (also known as Nicolas Marty)", citing Dr Stuart Ashens. While Dr. Stuart C. Ashens is indeed a real person, and he did indeed claim that Amati was known as 'Nicolas Marty', Dr. Ashens is not a historian, and his claim was made as a joke. The added citation linked to a youtube video, in which Ashens shows a fake toy violin with poorly translated, "Engrish" text. The same video refers to Stradivari as "Antonio Stella Bottom Tile".

I'm quite a big fan of Ashens myself, but I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate people vandalizing Wikipedia in his name.
