Hendrix replacing McCartney??? edit
I read somewhere (possibly the "NME Encyclopaedia of Rock") that Paul McCartney was invited to perform at Monterey, POSSIBLY with Ringo Starr, though exactly what he was going to perform was never discussed. It was widely believed that Macca later declined the invitation and insisted that he be replaced by Hendrix, as Macca was very impressed by him at a number of gigs in London.
