It is my understanding that this page, Michael Greene (arts), has been recommended for speedy deletion by a Wikipedia bot. We do not believe this is accurate. Michael Greene was the head of the Grammy Awards for 14 years, and as such, has a place in Wikipedia. The Grammy Award is a household name in the United States, and is recognized the world over in part because of the marketing work Mr. Greene did during his tenure. He has been responsible for changes to copyright and intellectual property laws in the U.S. He is a public figure in the American music industry.

Please let us know what info we need to provide, if any, to substantiate these claims. Please let it be known that we welcome any input that the Wikipedia community has to add about Mr. Greene. Thank you. :) Musicontent (talk) 19:46, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Where did you get 14-years from?
According to Billboard Greene was elected president in June 1985, their June 8th, 1985 pg 82 covers the election. He resigned in 2002, so that would be 17-years. Cathcam (talk) 04:41, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Discographie

edit

Ain't it worth to mention the two albums made in 1975\76, and those after 2009, according to discogs? I think a discographie including these productions seems to be a must. Any arguments against it? -Ani--46.114.158.107 (talk) 10:59, 12 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Elected

I've just updated the main page to correct his date as president to 1985 from 1988. Here is a link to the source of the year https://books.google.com/books?id=8yQEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PT19&dq=billboard+june+8+1985&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjazffI8sOHAxWqMTQIHcawF9wQ6AF6BAgCEAI Cathcam (talk) 04:47, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am confused by the wording and descriptions used in the existing page for Mr Greene and would appreciate a more senior Wikipedia editor's guidance on how to handle updates.
The article I linked to yesterday (Billboard June 4th, 1985) describes Mr Greene as being elected as president; In October (Billboard October 5th, 1985) announces a search for a fulltime, paid president and says Greene will "Move up to chairman of the board when the new paid president is hired."
In the December 1985 issue of Downbeat Jazz magazine green writes as president and takes jazz journalist and critic [Leonard Feather] to task for his criticism of the 1985 awards show run by former president
I've not been able to find a single available reference that describes Greene as chairman of the board and no one else during the period 1985-1995 called the president.
This totally contradicts the existing text. It would seem based on articles in the LA Times that Greene may have become the first fulltime, paid president in 1988. I'd appreciate some guidance on how to proceed Cathcam (talk) 18:26, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
