Suggestion: Discussion or inclusion of the topic of "gaslighting"

edit

Under the "Types and associated terms" section, there seems to be a lack of discussion around the aspect of gaslighting, where false or untrue narratives are presented to the other person(s) which often makes them question their own reality or truth. I feel this is a unique and important form of lying which is not currently in this section. Antiquetwerp (talk) 02:28, 18 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Lie

edit

Lying is bad.A lie is an assertion that is believed to be false, typically used with the purpose of deceiving or misleading someone. The practice of communicating lies is called lying. A person who communicates a lie may be termed a liar. .it is also bad because it is annoying not knowing if you can trust someone. It also makes you look bad A person that makes a lie is considered a liar.lying can be interpreted as deliberately false statements or misleading statements. The term lie also carries a negative connotation. In some cases depending on the lie a person can get arrested or charged a huge fine. Many cultures believe that lying is a sign of nonhuman behavior. Lying can be detected by observing nonverbal behaviors. An example of these behaviors are: not making eye contact, fidgeting, and stuttering. 2601:582:C100:4340:E9D3:17F0:2EE0:1538 (talk) 01:56, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Image

edit

I remember distinctly that the lead image for this article was Pinocchio.

Can someone please give me good reason as to why this was changed? This was a good, international, nonverbal representation of the concept at hand.

Now, it is a singer who is popular for the 2024 Eurovision.

I don't find this very sensible.

I have changed it back. I wanted to give the article more currency and relevance to the present day, but your point about Pinocchio is valid. LeetToTheBeatMakeItRoar (talk) 16:47, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! I appreciate it. Hopefully I did not sound too frustrated in my original response... I was rather confused.
I think that the image you used was not as timeless or global, but I otherwise understand the intention.
