Frequent updates requested

This article was created with Good Intentions and will need to be frequently revisited and revised, given the Financial crisis of 2007–2010 (which was on-going as this article was created). Also, I have found conflicting sources about how "large" some banks were at the time of their failure, so, as always, citing a reliable source will be crucial to the accuracy of this article. Expanding the list to beyond just 10 (for example, up to 100 banks) would also be helpful, in my view. Take care. ProfessorPaul (talk) 02:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Revision to my view

In my view, "large" should be limited to U.S. banks with $1.0 billion in assets (as determined by FDIC) at the time of their failure. Please disregard my statement up above about "100 banks." Let's just list those banks that fail with $1.0 billion (or more) in assets. At present, using the Wall Street Journal (and the other reliable sources), that is 36 U.S. banks. Wow! Take care. the list

the list is too long! what about raising it to banks over 2 bn? there are 2 new ones not on the list yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.149.24.165 (talk) 23:19, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

I sympathize

I sympathize with your view about the "list being too long." But let's keep it at $1 billion for now. Take care. ProfessorPaul (talk) 02:22, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Inflation

Should real, as opposed to nominal, dollars be used to reflect the effects of inflation? Aleman G. Nemetsky (talk) 04:25, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
