Karl Wolff

edit

I would not include Wolff as an "adjutant" of Hitler's. He, like Hermann Fegelein after him, was sent to Hitler's headquarters staff to act as Heinrich Himmler's liaison officer and be the representative of the SS. So I would remove him. Secondly, I would suggest putting the "adjutants" in chronological order, as much as can be done. Kierzek (talk) 22:19, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have gone ahead and removed Wolff from the article for the reasons stated above. He was Himmler's man and FHQ liaison officer (and a source for information for Himmler as to the political jockeying for favor and position in and around Hitler). Kierzek (talk) 12:16, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, but I don't think we should include Hitler's valets. But on the other hand, it would not be worth creating an article named Adolf Hitler's valets when it's only for 2-3. If it must be added, the article should be renamed Adolf Hitler's adjutants and valets. Or at least something similar to that. Jonas Vinther (talk) 22:17, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I believe it is good as it is now; but for putting the "adjutants" in chronological order. The valets can be listed under "See also". Kierzek (talk) 23:57, 29 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
hmmm... Maybe we should rename the article Adolf Hitler's adjutants, valets, and aids. That way we could include both Linge, Krause, his housekeepers, and drivers like Kempka. One big article for all of Hitler's "helpers", what do you think? Jonas Vinther (talk) 16:32, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
No, I believe it should remain as is, per my comments above. Kierzek (talk) 20:35, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I re-ordered them; putting the "adjutants" in chronological order. Kierzek (talk) 22:20, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you in the future add any more adjutants, if you find anymore, make sure to update the number of adjutants Hitler had in total in the lead. Jonas Vinther (talk) 00:35, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Expansion and massive copyedit

edit

I intent to massively expand this article and do lot's of copyedit as swell. As the article should merely contain a small bio on each individual adjutant, improvement should not be very difficult. Jonas Vinther (talk) 15:46, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have so far improved 3 sections. I will improve the rest later tonight. Jonas Vinther (talk) 17:24, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have now improved 4 more sections (Hoßbach, Below, Puttkamer, and Albrecht). Would you mind correcting my small errors before I continue, Kierzek? Jonas Vinther (talk) 17:55, 2 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I did some ce edits, accordingly. Kierzek (talk) 14:32, 4 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks man. We are almost done with all. I will finish the rest right after I saved this edit. :) Jonas Vinther (talk) 14:01, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Kierzek, I have now improved the rest. If you correct my small errors one last time, the article is a star, and could pass for GA status, I'm sure. :) Jonas Vinther (talk) 15:21, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

I'm thinking to add a picture of each individual adjutant and Hitler (from their main article's) to each section. Like 50px to each photo, and one per section? Jonas Vinther (talk) 22:34, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have gone ahead and added photo per section of each adjutant. Jonas Vinther (talk) 16:00, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I would suggest making the photos smaller in size, overall. Kierzek (talk) 16:23, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I think it really sucks that not all adjutants have pictures of their main articles; it makes the picture-per-section idea look stupid. Some pictures also don't have high enough resolution. I can be in favor of simply deleting all pictures, but with the length of the article it might seem somewhat boring to read it then. Maybe we could take 4 pictures of Hitler and anyone of his adjutants, and merged it into a one picture, and use that at the lead photo, and don't add anyone in the rest. What do you think of that, Kierzek? Jonas Vinther (talk) 15:43, 12 June 2014‎ (UTC)Reply
I would keep what photos are there, but make them smaller for the portraits and crop the non-portraits ones around the person in question. I am assuming all the photos used are either free or "fair use" under the Wikipedia guidelines. If there is any question as to their use, please check on same. Kierzek (talk) 16:35, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Jonas Vinther (talk) 22:04, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Kierzek, I have now completed the picture-problem. The pictures are as they all should be. What would you say this article needs to get GA status? Jonas Vinther (talk) 23:11, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Jonas, the article is looking better, I know you have worked on it quite a bit over the last few months; it does still need more WP:RS cites; specifically the sections on:
Schaub: paragraph: 2.
Bruckner: paragraph: 2.
Nicolaus von Below: paragraphs: 1, 2 and the last one.
Karl-Jesco von Puttkamer: paragraphs: 1, 2.
Willy Johannmeyer: paragraphs: 1, 2. Kierzek (talk) 12:50, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Kierzek, thanks for your comments. You wrote this message early today (24 September), since then I have massively improved the article (at least that's what I would say). I left a longer message on your talk page. Or maybe you left this message after you saw my message and the time difference between America and Europe is confusing me? Well, anyways thanks, I'll for sure let you know when my improvement is fully complete. Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 22:46, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I left this message first, but no matter. Since you are a reviewer now, it will help in article and citing prep. Keep workin' it and I will check in, when I can. I will check my talk page next. Kierzek (talk) 01:18, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Second opinion

edit

Kierzek, I'd like your opinion on the recent changes and improvements.

  • First, I'd like to re-visit the picture-for-every-section idea. I originally added it because I thought that the reader might like memorize words with a photo, especially because there is twelve different people in the subject. However, because not all the adjutants main article have photos, some is missing, which, as I said before, makes the idea look kinda' stupid. Also, some the adjutants that do have pictures on their main articles has them in very low resolution. The picture of Hitler visiting Puttkamer in hospital would make a great lead picture, but then we cant really use it in Puttkamers section. What's your take on this? Remove all (or some) pictures or keep them?
I believe the photos which are available should be kept, but smaller in size. Readers like to see a photo of a subject when they can and the article wont go very far without photos of the subjects. Kierzek (talk) 02:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I know its a small detail, but since this article's GA-expansion is going to be a pain regardless, might as well do it properly: should it be "(from 1925 to 1945)" or "(1925 to 1945). Removing the word "from" would makes Günsche's paragraph look stupid, because then it would look like this "(1940 to 1941 and again 1944 to 1945)" rather than "(from 1940 to 1941 and again from 1944 to 1945)". Thoughts?
"from" reads better. Kierzek (talk) 02:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Because there is a link to their main articles and their full names are stated in the lead, I removed their first and middle names from their section title, but it look terribly stupid! So stupid I reverted the edit. However, knowing it's not all about what looks stupid or cool, I would like your opinion on it. In reality, their full names are stated three times throughout the whole article (in lead, section name, and in the link to their main article). Your opinion?
Unless the reviewer states differently, I would leave it as is. Kierzek (talk) 02:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • It was a pain, but I removed all non-reliable sources and replaced most of them with book cites, but had to use some online sources from Library of Congress, New York Times, Telegraph, BCC, and so on. Per the GA-critea, I arranged all the book sources in alphabetic order, my question though is: do you need to do that for the online sources as well? The book sources are alphabetically arranged by the last name of the authors, but many of the online sources does not mention/include the journalist name. Do you know something about this?
Both should be alphabetically arranged; see how it was done in the Adolf Hitler article and follow that. In fact look at other GA articles for tips are presentation queries. Kierzek (talk) 02:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I know other editors edited this article, but since you and I and the main contributors I addressed theses points personally to you and will regard our mutual conclusion and agreements as talk page consensus unless other editors join in on the opinion part. Cheers. Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 00:37, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Kierzek, I have made all photos smaller and really tried to make all look the same size, despite the different resolutions, I also changed the lead photo. Are you happy with these changes? Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 14:43, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yep. Kierzek (talk) 15:25, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Kierzek, I will now begin the copyediting, re-writing and adding-additional-sources part of the GA-expansion. Obviously there are many sections which need more meat on them, but to have a section to compare the others with, can we agree that Schaub's section is fine? Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 14:11, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
With my latest ce, I now agree that the Schaub section is A-Okay with me. Kierzek (talk) 17:28, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

List of Adolf Hitler's adjutants /// List of Adolf Hitler's personal staff

edit

As of a few seconds ago, I have transformed this article into a list containing all of Hitler's personal staff per comments/discussions during the FL-candidate. In short, I have removed all bio information and added lists of his valets, secretaries and chauffeurs. Jonas Vinther • (speak to me!) 19:41, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
