- The main thing is the recon photo. I know there's something about wartime KM photos being PD in the United States because they're deemed war booty or something like that. Ask Ed, I seem to think he knows about it from the Design 1047 article. Parsecboy (talk) 16:42, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi guys, the NHHC asserts that all of their photos, to the best of their knowledge, are PD. This includes all of the "wartime loot" seized from Japan and Germany. However, the photos taken from the latter are not PD in Germany because of their copyright laws. My workaround to this was to upload the photo here on en (because Commons requires that all photos be free in the US and their home country) and tag it with {{PD-US}} and {{Do not move to Commons}}. I also included a link to http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/org11-4.htm , which shows the NHHC's position on the copyright status of their photos. —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 18:31, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
