RPG stats

edit

I removed the following from the article because I really don't think RPG stats belong in Wikipedia. Since large numbers of these "vital stats" sections have been added to various articles, I'm using Talk:Strength level (comics) to discuss this issue in general. Bryan 07:48, 28 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Kingpin Attributes

edit

I would like to add to this that it is mentioned in the Spider-man Animated Series that only 2% of the Kingpin's body mass is fat, I lack citation for this, though. --Damuna 04:55, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

yes, i remember this as well

I don't believe it. He is fat as a house and obviously likes his food. I wouldn't want to try to grab the last buffalo wing with him around, that's for sure.Ndriley97 (talk) 22:48, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

It says he was the boss of the NY mafia, although it is a major fact that in reality someone with the surname Fisk wouldnt make it past associate level, and spend the rest of his life capping rival goons for his Don. I doubt the comic writers let it slip, i would change that part.

Fair use rationale for Image:Kingpinani.png

edit

Image:Kingpinani.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File:UltimateKingpin.PNG Nominated for speedy Deletion

edit

An image used in this article, File:UltimateKingpin.PNG, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 20 June 2012

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:UltimateKingpin.PNG)

Michael Clarke Duncan

edit

With the film actor's death, it probably should be noted that his hope to return to the role in 2006 has officially become impossible. Is there a delicate but informative way to put that? It seems to be a dangling element of that section of the article. 12.162.122.5 (talk) 15:16, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is a Monumental Overview!

edit

A box at the top of the article complains "This article may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may only interest a specific audience." Someone who doesn't really care about comics might see it that way, but no such person would bother with this article anyway. To one who loves comics, such a comprehensive summary is a rare and masterful creation, well worthy of a home in Wikipedia where those who care can find it and those who do not will not be inconvenienced by it. Compare for example sludge like Keep Portland Weird. If Wikipedia has room for that, it surely has room for this! Ornithikos (talk) 21:23, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Film rights

edit

The article makes a claim that Marvel Studios have the film rights to Kingpin, claiming the comment comes from Kevin Feige. It then links to a source where he says they either have them or somehow share it but that he is not 100% sure on what it is or how. This is not at all what the article is saying and it contradicts other claims by Sony that they own the Kingpin under the Spider-Man franchise (which Marvel owns the television rights to). At any rate Marvel do not own the rights outright, so I am removing this comment. All we can be definitely certain of is that they have some form of access to him on television. Sydney Greenstreet!?!?

edit

What is the source for the claim that the Kingpin's appearance was modeled after Sydney Greenstreet? In his first appearance (Amazing Spider-Man #50, 51, 52) his face looks more like a combination of Orson Welles and Edward G. Robinson. HandsomeMrToad (talk) 06:37, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Kingpin (comics)Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) – According to the new standards set in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics), "comics" is only used for publications. For characters such as this one, it should be "codename (character name)" Cambalachero (talk) 12:33, 10 July 2017 (UTC) Cambalachero (talk) 12:33, 10 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Support, but it should be Kingpin (character). "codename (character name)" is used when there are multiple characters use the same name (see Captain Marvel). Argento Surfer (talk) 12:52, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Citation Question

edit

Can I use a YouTube video as a citation for his playable appearance in "Marvel Puzzle Quest" that is from the official channel under the Video Games section? -- Bang Bang50 (talk) 17:38, 8 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Bang Bang50: I suggest using this one instead. It's still primary, but easier to verify. Argento Surfer (talk) 20:29, 8 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Spider-Verse image?

edit

Is there a way we can obtain rights to an image of Kingpin from the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)? It's clearly the character's most outrageously villainous incarnation, and it seems a shame not to include it. – AndyFielding (talk) 14:14, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

No, but you might be able to argue for fair-use if you can persuade other editors to replace one of the other images on the page with it. As is, 6 non-free images is really pushing the limits. Argento Surfer (talk) 14:43, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
