Confusion on the name

edit

There is a confusion on the name used for this personality. Jean-Baptiste is indeed one of its Christian name but he was using in daily life the name of Joseph, according to the French usages of the time which required that the last name was the usual one. Joseph is already the name chosen by the French version of Wikipedia for the same character.

It was his younger brother who used the name of Jean-Baptiste. I don't know which source to give for that kind of info (Joseph de Villèle is called Joseph in most documents mentioning him so I don't know if that's enough and his brother Jean-Baptiste is a minor figure in La Réunion, not much has been written about him). In doubt, I just record that fact here if someone has more time to investigate the matter. I believe it would be necessary to change the name of this page as it means several people might think we're talking here about the brother. Priyankee (talk) 22:58, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
