Clarification

edit

The infobox states that the western terminus is I-70/US 24/US 40/US 69. However, the actual articles states it is I-70/US 24/US 40/US 169. Which one is correct? Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 16:41, 18 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Meeting of involved parties

edit

@Benicio2020, 38.103.204.42, and 38.103.204.30:

We have to talk this out. We can't keep reverting ourselves every day. 38.103 IP, you can't keep claiming I-70 Alternate is anything more than a convenience signed on guide signs over I-670. The mention that in the route description that I cited to Google Maps StreetView is enough until we find a better source. Anything more than that violates WP:SYNTHESIS. Benicio2020, I reverted you because the Google Maps StreetView is akin to citing a photograph, which is allowed. Again, until we find a better source, it will work just fine because it is verifiable.

I also restored the U2 paragraph because the U2 fan blog said it originally appeared in the Kansas City Star, which is the newspaper in KC. I have no reason to dispute the accuracy of the blog, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to search the Star archives to find the original story. At present, Newspapers.com does not include that day of the Star. –Fredddie 02:07, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

In that case, it should be removed until the original story is found. It can always be added if and when it is found. Benicio2020 (talk) 18:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
With regard to the photograph - yes, a photograph can be cited as a source. But that single photograph, of a single highway sign, does not support the text as written in the article. The sentence that I have re-removed was original research, or at best, WP:SYNTHESIS.
With regard to the IP editor, if you look on their talk pages, I attempted to engage them multiple times on the topic of adding unsourced material, and even pointed them to links that would help them out, if they desire help. I've run out of patience, my next step is to ask an admin to block those addresses. Benicio2020 (talk) 18:22, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've gone ahead and re-added the U2 bit with citations I found through my library's NewsBank access (which has The Star for that week), sans the quote. The alternate route addition isn't well-sourced (a newspaper or DOT notice is much better than trying to cite a sign), so I leave it up to other editors to add it in.
