Claims of participation in Shifta War

edit

The claim that Amin participated in the Shifta war in the KAR in 1949 doesn’t seem right as the Shifta war began in 1963. The source cited only makes a vague reference to him being stationed in Somalia fighting “the Shifta animal raiders”. Seems like this should be revised 2601:81:8500:5F10:0:0:0:BACF (talk) 20:58, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Indeed. Thank you for pointing this out. "Shifta" was a catch-all term for bandits and rebels in Somalia during this period, so whoever added "Shifta War" was probably not familiar with the terminology. Applodion (talk) 22:02, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

How was he captured or died?

edit

How was Idi Amin captured? 87.248.238.141 (talk) 20:08, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

He was never captured. He fled into exile, lived there for decades, and then died of natural causes. Applodion (talk) 21:10, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Amin’s date of birth is not exactly known. There should be a consensus. Alba91 (talk) 01:31, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please read the article. Many possible dates have been used by various sources, but the most reliable ones use 30 May 1928. Applodion (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Idi Amin in American comics.

edit

I recently discovered a portrayal of Idi Amin in an American comic magazine, put out by the Harris Company. In the comic, the former dictator is portrayed as a Cleopatra-like Egyptian woman. I cannot think why you have not mentioned this comic series in your otherwise excellent article. Glammazon2 (talk) 17:38, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
