Talk:I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! (Australian TV series) season 9

Should Decimal Points Be Used In Star Count Percentages? edit

I would like to seek consensus about whether or not decimal places should be used in the percentages in the star count table. WWGB stated that decimal places shouldn't be used in the percentages of the star count table, reverting me three times (violating WP:3RR), believing them to be "unnecessary" because they believe using the decimal places is false precision.

However, I believe it is necessary and accurate to include decimal places, because it is still precise to include some decimal places as the stars aren't always awarded in whole numbers of stars (some trials award thirds or halves of stars to contestants) and by the end of the series, celebrities accumulate a large number of stars, in which decimal places are important in distinguishing different celebrity star count accuracy rates (winning 48.5% of stars is not the same as winning 49.49% of stars). @Happily888: 3RR provides that "An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page ..." Clearly, there was no violation, and I ask you to withdraw the false assertion against me. WWGB (talk) 13:52, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
As I have pointed out repeatedly, to no avail, inclusion of a decimal string in this situation is false precision. Put simply, if stars are reported as whole numbers, then percentages should also be reported as whole numbers.
As an example, the probability of a birthday falling on a Friday is 1/7, or 14.285714285%. Clearly a ridiculous level of "precision", no? We would just write "1/7, or 14%".
In the unlikely event that a half-star (0.5) is awarded, then (and only then) might we report percentage to one decimal place. WWGB (talk) 03:20, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • No (Summoned by bot) - Decimal Points SHOULD NOT Be Used In Star Count Percentages. It is clearly an unhelpful level of false precision. Pincrete (talk) 05:25, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • @Happily888: I can see no indication that WP:RFCBEFORE has been tried, let alone exhausted. Why have you gone straight to a full-blown thirty-day formal WP:RFC for this very minor matter? Just discuss in the normal manner, and if you need outside advice, leave a note at the talk page of a relevant WikiProject. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:10, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
