Talk:Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts

Untitled

edit

For some crazy reason, HSPVA is in the Katy ISD UIL region. It really annoys us. They need to go steal audition spots from other schools. --Clorox (diskussion) 00:39, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Name change

edit

Apparently the name change is official until the Board actually receives the money. I'm going to leave the article "as is" for now with the new name, but anyone is free to revert and do the necessary clean up.

The gift and the new Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts name are pending approval from the HISD board of trustees.

The school name has now changed as can be noted on the school homepage: https://www.houstonisd.org/kinderhspva schoolsTeacher42 (talk) 20:21, 25 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request for updates

edit

Since I am being requested not to make edits directly as an employee of the school I will be placing requests here. As noted on my profile, while I am paid by the school as an employee, editing this page is not part of my job description nor am I being directly compensated by the school or district to do so. I am merely trying to be helpful. At this point I am unsure of how best to go forward other than to ask the community to improve our page. I was hoping to make the following categories without merely regenerating the school website: History, Campus, Arts, Academics, Admissions, Student Body, Notable Alumni.

Any help building the site would be great or advice on the best way for me to do so would also be appreciated.

Central Description Edit Request

edit

Request for editing the "Central Description" Currently the description at d:Q773447 in WikiData states "Secondary school for acting in the Montrose neighborhood in Houston, Texas, USA" I request that it is changed to "Secondary school for the arts in Downtown Houston, Texas, USA" due to the location change and fact that the school offers more than acting. If possible the label should also be changed from "High School for the Performing and Visual Arts" to "Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts" as that is the new name, but I am unfamiliar with How name changes work on Wikipedia.schoolsTeacher42 (talk) 21:03, 25 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was about to make those changes for you, but I see that they have already been done. Please let us know what other updates are required, but avoid text that reads like a prospectus. Dbfirs 08:27, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
In addition to the Central description on the Wikidata site (noted above), the Label should be updated to reflect the new name, the image and coordinates should be updated to reflect what has been placed on the page. I think this should be all in terms of Wikidata.schoolsTeacher42 (talk) 20:54, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Which are the correct co-ordinates? You can use Google Earth to check. Any one of the three degree formats is OK because it is easy to convert. Dbfirs 22:04, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
New Coordinates are 29°45'24.7"N 95°21'36.8"W . Thank you for your help. schoolsTeacher42 (talk) 21:44, 28 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I'll make that adjustment to the new location. Dbfirs 23:07, 28 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
