Merge from Extreme Martial Arts

Quality issues aside with either article, Extreme Martial Arts and Extreme martial arts should be merged. I suggest using this article (lowercase "martial arts") as the destination article, since this is arguably not a proper noun (except insofar as it's used as one in marketing efforts by Century Martial Arts). —Erik Harris 13:30, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

XMA and Martial Arts

I'd like to keep this article NPOV. Designating XMA a sport rather than a martial art helped a lot. However, it does seem to me that XMA has roots in the martial arts, so that's why I've included martial arts, along with gymnastics and acrobatics, as one of the elements that are combined into XMA. I think that only mentioning gymnastics and acrobatics gives a false impression of what XMA is. I agree with you. It is a sport that has been taken from martial arts. I don't think it has technically been given "martial art" status yet, especially because it is a branch off from martial arts. Well, if Taiji Quan is a martial art, I guess this can also be a martial art. The difference is that the former is a traditional style with roots in the 16th century, while the latter is a company founded in ca. 2006. Additions

I added a lot of content. Most of it came from my head, supported it by adding to web sites to the list of references. Feel free to format or alter the text. Added to the lead. Added a history section, techniques section, and a locations section. Changed criticism section heading to controversies (more PR and NPOV I think). Changed References section heading to notes, and moved it after all the content. This is how I have always seen it structured, and believe it to be a good way of doing things.
