Confused as to purpose of this article, recommend merge/delete edit

I'm not totally sure on what this article is about. The title implies that it explores the link between security and energy in Afghanistan, but energy basically isn't mentioned until the article gets to the 1950s, after paragraphs about the Islamic invasion, the Mongols, etc., which had basically nothing to do with energy. It's like a generic history article (all of which is covered elsewhere), with some minor added info on oil and natural gas deposits.

Since essay-like articles are not what Wikipedia does anyway, and most of the material is well-covered elsewhere, I suggest that the portions about energy be spliced into Energy in Afghanistan and then the article deleted. There is definitely good mid-20th C. content here not covered in Energy in Afghanistan, so definitely some useful research done, but the rest of the article is pretty redundant, and seems more like an essay than an encyclopedic article. Recommend merge and delete edit

Since this article is pretty much a (albeit decent) undergrad essay rather than an article, I suggest we merge appropriate content to History of Afghanistan and Energy in Afghanistan and delete. Any opposition? MatthewVanitas (talk) 22:40, 9 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
