Requested move 12 September 2016 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. And @EdJohnston: why did you contest this? Requests to undo bold moves from long term titles should normally just be done, with the discussion going the other way if necessary. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 18:01, 19 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Donald Mackay of StrathnaverDonald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay – The article Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay was moved to Donald Mackay of Strathnaver without any prior discussion. All sources point to the Lord Reay title being his proper designation, including the Book of Mackay .p. 125 which is considered an authority on the subject. It is fair to refer to Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay's ancestors and predecessors as "of Strathnaver" but that designation was done and dusted with once he was raised in the peerage as "Lord Reay". For these reasons and as there was no prior discussion before the page was moved, I am requesting that it be reverted back to Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay. It would not be right to refer to his descendant Donald Mackay, 11th Lord Reay as "of Strathnaver" so not for the 1st of the title either. – QuintusPetillius (talk) 12:53, 12 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
