How is this notable?

edit

Is this about Tia Sharp or what happened to her? In any case how is this article notable other than sounding like a news story? - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 21:31, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

How do you want it to be written then? If it is a tone issue then it can be fixed.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:38, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Or is it more an issue that you dont think it is notable. Because I dont see how the article could tell about Tia without describing the situation at hand. Like thousands of similar articles.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:40, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Knowledgekid87. This is an utterly pointless article at this point in time. It's precipitate in every way. Write a considered article at some future point, if you want. For now, leave this matter to the news media, and let Wikipedia be an encyclopedia. Russ London (talk) 18:45, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Tell that at the WP:ITN section instead. And keep to the topic at hand.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:20, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Go look at the list of murdered Americans, and see how many of them are non-notable. Then you can come back here and tell us you think this article should be deleted, once you've complained about a few of those, mkay? --Τασουλα (talk) 10:10, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just because there is a number of American 'non-notables' already there is no need to add to them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.154.113.152 (talk) 15:27, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think the case is possibly notable but the entry itself does not tell us WHY. There is plenty of blather in there about blaming the cops for not finding the body right away but that shouldn't really be the point of the entry, should it? I think people seeking information about the case would more likely be looking for possible motives or explanations as to why the crime happened. 122.152.167.60 (talk) 04:37, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also, if this is one of those cases where the British tabloids have generated more coverage than is appropriate, perhaps the article could feature or connect to a list of such cases. It's known all over the world that British people WORSHIP the tabloids even more so than Americans (especially when there is a missing child to contend with), so that unto itself is a noteworthy topic. 122.152.167.60 (talk) 04:43, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Wait, question: How is the comparison to Americans relevant? It doesn't seem to be relevant at all, to which I say, I do not think bigoted comments are appropriate. - Boneyard90 (talk) 12:40, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article title

edit

It hasn't been confirmed that she has been murdered, shouldn't the word murder be changed for something more suitable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.60.98 (talk) 18:27, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that, good to see its already been changed to disappearance, although the police have opened a murder inquiry, no charges has been brought yet and no fixed evidence released. 86.185.54.231 (talk) 20:04, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
If (when) the body is confirmed as Tia Sharp, the article title should be changed to Death of Tia Sharp. Murder should not be presumed until after a legal verdict. WWGB (talk) 06:32, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
(We can use murder pre-emptively depending on reliable sources but that's not so important)
I agree that the title should be changed and now that I am aware of RSs saying the body's been identified [1] I'm moving it. Egg Centric 19:46, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Lets wait for the AfD to close first, moving the page now will be redundant if the article is not kept, if there are sources add them into the article that confirm her death and a move can always be made afterwards. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 20:44, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
What? I don't understand your point. Nowt wrong with editing an article under deletion disccussion and surely it was just as redundant for you to move it back? Egg Centric 21:30, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually, that links says that they are still awaiting formal identification. They've charged Hazell with Tia Sharp's murder, but the body hasn't formally been identified. 146.90.141.14 (talk) 21:59, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've moved the article back to Disappearance of Tia Sharp, where it should stay until the AfD process is finished. Using the word "murder" in the article title makes a currently-unsupportable presumption about the results of a judicial process that has only just started, and won't be finished for months, at the very least.

When the AfD is finished, if the body has been identified as hers, I suggest we move the article to Death of Tia Sharp, and block the page Murder of Tia Sharp from recreation for the time being. -- The Anome (talk) 16:40, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Now confirmed as her. Get moving, monkeys! Lugnuts (talk) 10:37, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Since the AfD has now been closed, and the body identified, I've moved the article to Death of Tia Sharp. I've left it locked against further moves for the time being. -- The Anome (talk) 11:25, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

An admin should move this article to Murder of Tia Sharp. Jim Michael (talk) 14:22, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Definitely. Nick Cooper (talk) 11:37, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Death of is fine. This is not a tabloid, and there is no reason to be sensational. Apteva (talk) 06:19, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is no need for WP:EUPHEMISM. The request is in line with past crime articles. Tia Sharp did not die of old age, and BBC News is not a tabloid source.[2]-♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:39, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Presumed dead

edit

Many reports now state that she is presumed dead, I have noted this on the main page. Please discuss if you have any issues with this. This includes the discover of a body in her GrandMothers house. ICabrit (talk) 10:02, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
