Notability edit

Diamond has recently broken away from the rap group Crime Mob, and has even released a mixtape which has received great attention from fans. As seen here in an interview done by AllHipHop.com see source:Diamond Leaves Crime Mob:Diamond Interview She has clearly gone independent, holds record labels, and has even had 1 release already.Mcelite (talk) 22:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Per Wikipedia:Music#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles, she is not notable. "Members of notable bands are not given individual articles unless they have demonstrated notability for activity independent of the band."
Her activity independent of the band is limited to releasing one mixtape. This fails Wikipedia:Music#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles.
The sourcing for the article is weak. Four sources are cited:
1. "Crime Mob Biography" on Oldies.com. Does not establish notability independent of Crime Mob.
2. AllHipHop.com (2008) - "Diamond Leaves Crime Mob:Diamond Interview". For openers, you are not citing AllHipHop.com, you're citing a blog that is violating AllHipHop's copyright. More to the point, it basically is the standard "Yes they kicked me out but I'm gonna go solo" kind of deal. It does not establish her notability independent of the group.
3. "Diamond’s Biography". Last.fm Last.fm is opensource, so it isn't a reliable source. Again, it does not establish her notability independent of the group.
4 MSN (2008) - "Crime Mob: Biography". Does not establish her notability independent of Crime Mob.
(Also, her article has been deleted several times: twice by prod, a speedy or two and an AfD. We've also repeatedly deleted: Bitch Muzik (twice), Bitch Music (AfD), Bitch Muzik (album) (AfD) and others I'm sure I've forgotten. Princess has a simlar history.)
Unless there is some hidden source of independent notability that I am unable to find, she still fails.

This article wasn't originally hers from what I saw. It was originally created for some rapper that was undergroud. But any way if you want I would truly appreciate you helping me find the AllHipHop.com interview (the original) so it can be of help. Also she was kicked out the group she decided to go solo with agreement from her fellow group memebers.Mcelite (talk) 17:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Several of the deletions were the same Diamond. Originally, I was deleting Bitch Music (or one of the numerous vaient spellings it was posted under) as a non-notable mix tape and came back to Diamond.
Honestly, the original interview won't help, I don't see the article making it over the WP:MUSIC bar either way. To survive, we need reliable sources about her independant of the group. An interview talking about her leaving the group and what she might do next doesn't cut it. Otherwise, you might try to get it over one of the other criteria, but I don't see much promise there either. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 17:53, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well aight. I'll just have to poke around a little more. The article will possibly have to wait until she actually releases an album. The article will just be taken from there. I'm not in a particular rush, but I'll see what I can do. It's still five days right?Mcelite (talk) 21:58, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD usually runs about 5 days, but it's not a hard and fast rule. In any event, if you find reliable sources to establish notability, any admin can bring the article back. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:38, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

She also composes Classical Music? edit

I just heard an orchestral piece "Music for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet", performed by the Seattle Symphony, which was credited to Diamond -- apparently this woman. Did she recently make a radical change in her genre? Or is association with this piece a hoax? And if she did compose this, I would expect this article to be updated.) -- llywrch (talk) 17:08, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

LOL you've got to be kidding! I know this is over a year old, but just in case anybody is confused, that piece was composed by David Diamond (composer), it is not the individual that is the subject of this article, check out this: http://www.amazon.com/Music-Shakespeares-Romeo-Juliet-Diamond/dp/B00000HXNA Zad68 (talk) 17:42, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Diamond the BodyDiamond – Name is wrong ‘Diamond the Body’ is a Houston rapper and this article is about ‘Diamond’ the rapper from Atlanta. These are two different individuals. 2600:100C:B2F6:54A8:29EA:E818:C5C:EDDD (talk) 09:55, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
