- Denied According to Mohun Bagan's official website, the spelling of his name is Daniel Zeleny. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 14:46, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Contest. According to the Mohun Bagan's official website, BOTH variations are spelt.
http://www.mohunbaganac.com/match-preview-review?match_id=15 - "Manish Bharghav and Snehasish Chakraborty played in the flanks while Rakesh Masih and Daniell Zeleny were in charge of the central midfield. " (Paragraph 3 of article)
Here is a photo from an OFFICIAL BROADCAST of a Mohun Bagan AC match. The photo CLEARLY IDENTIFIES the spelling as DANIELL. Please make the necessary changes.
http://photoupload.org/uploads/13287152471.jpg Dzeleny (talk) 15:40, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
You will have to do better than that mate. Many people have given me that as proof in the past for other players but they have all turned out edited or photoshopped. Also the site gives both spellings but with accordance to the actual squad page which gives the name as Daniel I can not change it. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 21:16, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Contest. For proof that the photo IS NOT photoshopped, please watch from 10:12 - 10:26 of this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF6dLBh3SFM&feature=g-upl&context=G291480bAUAAAAAAABAA - it shows the exact situation from where the photo was taken. That is on official jersey with the correct spelling; the club website's squad page spells the name wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dzeleny (talk • contribs) 01:32, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- Still denied. Video evidence is not reliable via wikipedia. Also I checked newspapers and there facebook page and they clearly say DANIEL Zeleny. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 01:53, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- Contest. Here are photos from the OFFICIAL facebook page of Mohun Bagan that have been tagged/captioned with the correct spelling of DANIELL Zeleny.
1. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=267870193280914&set=a.267869836614283.66017.238802646187669&type=3 2. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=267870149947585&set=a.267869836614283.66017.238802646187669&type=3 3. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=267870096614257&set=a.267869836614283.66017.238802646187669&type=3
As you can see, both variations have been used on both the official website and facebook; one (Daniel), due to the fact that it is the most common way of spelling the name; and the other (DANIELL) because it is the CORRECT spelling of the name.
DANIELL is a unique way of spelling the name, and as such, wouldn't be used in official website/facebook/documents (not to mention, the back of a jersey), provided it wasn't the correct means of spelling it - i.e. If the name was actually Daniel, you would NEVER see DANIELL being used in ANY way.
Not only this, but there are enough links to reputable football-specfic websites (eg. Goal.com - http://www.goal.com/en-india/people/australia/64615/daniell-zeleny) that once again indicate the correct spelling as DANIELL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dzeleny (talk • contribs) 08:36, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- Ok you have officially got me to consider this move. There is a website I will discuss this with other Indian Football wikipedia users on and will come up with the verdict. Also goal.com is reliable with stats only, they usually get the names of players wrong. Manandeep Singh for example used to be M Singh on goal.com last season. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 11:20, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sure after discussion, the decision will be conclusive in that the correct spelling is DANIELL.
Re: Goal.com, if that doesn't suffice then I'm sure the links at facebook.com, mybestplay.com and youtube.com should further validate the correct spelling of the name; ESPECIALLY youtube - a video search of 'Daniel Zeleny' will provide nothing relevant to any footballer, whereas a search for 'DANIELL Zeleny' will immediately show videos specific to a footballer named DANIELL Zeleny.
Thankyou for taking the time to consider this move. I hope the issue can be resolved ASAP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dzeleny (talk • contribs) 12:33, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- I have attached the youtube search results to validate the aforementioned point(s)-
'Daniel Zeleny' - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=daniel+zeleny&oq=daniel+zeleny&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=216678l216678l0l216881l1l1l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0
'DANIELL ZELENY' -http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=daniell+zeleny&oq=daniell+zeleny&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=95631l95631l0l95766l1l1l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0
I hope this helps in providing enough substantial evidence. Dzeleny (talk) 12:43, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- I have noticed that a page has been created with the correct spelling, and redirects back to the original, incorrectly-spelt, Daniel Zeleny page. Can it be arranged so that the contents from the Daniel Zeleny page are moved to the DANIELL ZELENY page, complete with new spelling etc? Completely ridding any further confusion. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dzeleny (talk • contribs) 19:42, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Daniell Zeleny → Daniel Zeleny – Reconsider location of the article, challenging the validity of the previous RM, which breached a number of policies, including:
- Non-admin closure in a situation where no consensus appeared to have been made.
- Non-admin closure in a situation where the closing user participated in the discussion.
- Closure in a situation where the discussion did not run for seven days.
- Another contributor to the discussion appears to have a Conflict of interest.
- Unreliable sources (youtube, facebook) used as a basis upon which to name or rename an article against policy.
The article currently has four references, three of which use the spelling with single L, while one uses double L (goal.com). Interestingly the reference which is being used as a citation for the spelling of the name as "Daniell" uses "Daniel". Cloudz679 09:21, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. Cloudz679 09:32, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Support - even if we ignore the fact that the previous RM was incredibly poor and should never have been closed, the name does indeed to be spelt 'Daniel', as supported by reliable sources. GiantSnowman 09:37, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Comment. Not really too fussed about how this RM turns out, but I disagree that the NAC in the first discussion was incorrect. Arsenalkid and myself both objected to the move originally (it was listed as an uncontroversial request), but were both swayed by the nominator's argument. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with RM, but discussions definitely do not have to run for seven days; many discussions are completed early when it is uncontroversial, and the above discussion had become uncontroversial, with all participants in agreement despite initial doubts. Next, one of the contributors may have had a COI, but that's fine because they handled it in the correct manner (per WP:COI, "An editor with a conflict of interest who wishes to suggest substantive changes to an article should use that article's talk page."). Lastly, as long as it is the subject's official facebook page, then it is a perfectly acceptable source to use per WP:ABOUTSELF. Jenks24 (talk) 10:08, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but four days and three editors does not make consensus. By that logic, Cloudz and I could have not listed this discussion at WP:FOOTBALL or notified the previous editors, both said 'move it back' and closed it after an hour? GiantSnowman 10:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Again, maybe you are unfamiliar with RM, it's quite different to places like AfD where the level of participation is much higher. This was originally listed as an uncontroversial request. An admin would have done it, except Arsenalkid and myself objected. The nominator changed our opinions and it effectively goes back to being uncontroversial. Arsenalkid then made the move and I closed the discussion because there was nothing more to discuss. Jenks24 (talk) 10:24, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm familiar with RM thankyouverymuch. There obviously is something to discuss, hence why a second RM has begun almost immediately, and it's not as uncontroversial as you might like to think. GiantSnowman 10:31, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I should have chosen my words more carefully there (or maybe it was the tone? I dunno, but I didn't mean to sound like a dick). I wouldn't call one month almost immediately, and when I look back on my closure, it was either that or revert Arsenalkid's move and say "wait three days (or possibly much longer considering the usual RM backlog) for someone to come to the same conclusion". Sorry, but I still think I made the right call. Jenks24 (talk) 10:48, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Okay can we stop fighting over the closing. God! Why go way off topic? Anyway I just went by what was on his jersey. When the user who asked for the move gave me a picture of Daniell with a jersey with the name spelled as DANIELL I gave in. Simples because the jersey is kinda the 100% truth; --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 10:38, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

- (Facepalm) Why do you guys have to make this harder to understand then it actually is. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 10:47, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Please remember to be civil! Even if the first three of my points are ignored, the final two are surely applicable. The interest is in the name as used in reliable sources. What is the name according to these? Cloudz679 12:36, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Okay, [1] conflict resolved thanks to the official website of the team. I think we are done here. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 19:35, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Nope - official website also spells it 'Daniel'. GiantSnowman 20:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- You just brought me back to the home page. If you can provide me a link from the official website then fine but as of this moment I am giving you this and this is the most you can get from the website from the looks of it as Zeleny has been released. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 21:53, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Another reliable source found (and added to article) which suggests "Daniel" spelling. Cloudz679 21:24, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I am sorry but here is when both of you show your lack of knowledge on Football in India and its clubs. mohunbaganclub.com is not the official club, it never was! It has always been a fan website. Same with that Basu website. I will admit that when I started I thought that was the site to but the officials have said that they were never associated with that website. So right now www.mohunbaganac.com is the real website and nothing else. Anyway I have done a small revamp of the page with the Daniell references in it. Also because the Indian Football pages are very disorganized still I usually stop watching pages of players who left the league so right now just make a decision and I will stick by it as I really dont care for this player anymore unless he still does anything with Indian Football. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 22:16, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- LOOK AT THE TEAMS! IT SAYS RIGHT THERE! DANIELL! TWO L's! I have given you evidence. I can even give you his actual facebook right here [9]. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 22:46, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Nothing to do with football in India I'm afraid, Arsenalkid, this is an Australian man who has played in his home country as we can see from the references. In fact as you already know, he has left his Indian club after playing only seven games[citation needed]. Removing the references which do not support your argument to change the location of the page is borderline vandalism, please take a step back and try to look at this objectively. I've never met this man, never seen him play, never even heard of him until I saw his wikipedia page but I feel we have to go with the overwhelming majority of the sources. As of now there are five sources. Four of these use the "Daniel" spelling, and the fifth uses both "Daniel" and "Daniell". Regardless of his "real name", if it's consistently reported as something, that is how it should be represented on a Wikipedia article. Cloudz679 05:40, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I have to admit I was really heated yesterday. What you said is completely justifiable. Now if you may do the honors and decide what the name should be. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 19:51, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
