Soccer

edit

Fed Ex field has hosted a few soccer games, but is the field FIFA compliant? Could the stadium host a WCQ or WC game if the USA bids for the 2018 WC? Nyrmetros 00:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

This question is in play again as we head for 2024. Anyone have a source showing the length/width of the field when configured for soccer? 204.227.246.8 (talk) 13:49, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

New Stadium

edit

Are the Redskins seriously thinking about a new stadium when their current stadium is just 10 years old ??

Transit?

edit

Can you get to FedExField on the Washington Metro? --Jfruh (talk) 22:55, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I haven't gone to a game, nor do I live in the DC area, but I believe you can take the Orange line to the stadium. The Landover Station is your exit.--BigMac1212 20:43, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
The train doesn't go there, you have to take the bus to reach the stadium on Metro. Kcarlin 05:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
You can take blue line to Morgan Boulevard and see the stadium from the street. Not quite a mile's walk to FedEx. http://www.wmata.com/rail/station_detail.cfm?station_id=110 Rufwork (talk) 16:55, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

No Metrorail service there. There's PLENTY of parking for everyone, though ChaseS08 (talk) 08:51, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Contradiction

edit
  1. "The stadium's record occupancy was in 2002 with 75,000 tickets sold holding the highest record in the history of the stadium."
  2. "FedExField has not had a football season in which the stadium failed to sell out its tickets" - the stadium holds 90,000

One these statements must be wrong, but I know don't know which. Tompw (talk) 22:29, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Looked but did not find an authoritative source yet, but: The stadium opened seating approximately 80,000, with some of that being luxury boxes and whatnot which are not sold as tickets per se. In 2004 Dan Snyder put in more seats (and introduced obstructed view seating where Jack Kent Cooke had permitted none) to raise the total to approximately 91,000. The record set in 2002 was, of course, surpassed once the capacity was increased. Kcarlin 05:13, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The first one must be wrong. If you check the external links, the Redskins had over 700,000 in attendence for a 8-game home schedule. That means they average about 90,000 per game, a figure that makes "record occupancy" of 75,000 seem silly. I am going to go ahead and delete that sentence.--Hawflake 12:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, I am confused as to how the team can consistently sell out, but the record attendance (according to the article) is 90,588 for a Redskins game and 91,665 for a college game, when the stadium seats 91,704 (a larger figure than either). How can you sell out and be under capacity?76.10.24.245 03:47, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sell outs are paid attendance, strictly tickets sold. Game day attendance is fannies in the seats, who showed up to use the ticket. Kcarlin 04:59, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Criticisms and potential replacement?

edit

Hi, there's no mention of the potential replacement in that section. Could someone update it to include the talk of a new stadium and where it'll be built? No headdresses or face paint, https://www.commanders.com/stadium/stadium-guide. It doesn't mention anything about jerseys, hats, jackets etc.
