Zazie's Speech

edit

Before chapter 135, Zazie have only spoken twice. In chapter 135, she says "...for you.". Chao then asks her a question, and she responds "...a friend". Should we say that Zazie have spoken four times? Or three? I'm gonna revert the page to make no confusion.

She has infact spoken 5 times. She spoke three times in Chapter 135. The first time wasn't in a word bubble. She says "...Friends" when Natsumi asks her a question. Then as you mentioned above she spoke twice in the same panel first saying. "...For you." Then, "... a friend." Since her previous two lines were also in a similar case (She said "Negi-Sensi..." in one word bubble and "We'd love to have you at our circus, if you've the time" in another in the same pannel) I believe she's said 5 lines. I have changed her section to say that if someone disagrees that the line "...Friends" counts as a full line as it was not in a bubble feel free to change it. Source citation for Kaede?

edit

The current description for Nagase Kaede includes a sentence saying her design was based upon Chloe from Noir. I have not heard that from any of Akamatsu's interviews or assistants; can we get a citation on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wavedash (talkcontribs)

Evangeline A.K. McDowell

edit

On a similar vein, it says in Evangeline's section that, according to her design notes, she is visually based on Emma Watson's portrayal of Hermione Grainger. Where does it say this? I have her book three design notes, and it doesn't seem to have anything about it. Please could we have a citation on this? Mr Negotiator 21:29, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've removed both statements under WP:V. Mr Negotiator 10:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
We've had problems with rampant comparisons before (see Talk:Characters of Negima (1-15)#Character Comparisons) so policy for these pages is for any comparisons to be 'official' (i.e. from Akamatsu himself) and to be sourced. Shiroi Hane 10:41, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that's why I removed it. It's entirely unencyclopedic to have speculation like that. Mr Negotiator 19:14, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

About the edit war going on

edit

In Negima!?‎, Characters of Negima (1-15), Characters of Negima (16-31). I am going to stop reverting for the time being and try to see if the person who keeps doing Policy violating edits have any will in discussion. (Which I have see none in his talk page.) I am not dipping in the any more violation of the 3RR rule just because of someone who think wiki is his own page and can add anything in articles without following rules. The new edits violates WP:NOT#OR by comparing Nodoka to Shinobu, saying the giant bioweapons are Gundams (which is not stated in the series at all and if it does, it would infringe copyright laws.), and violating WP:V by stating what actions by the company angered fans with no verifiable source. Feel free to add any comments on this. To the User Animedude, please list your sources which is verifiable is you are really trying to help in editing the pages. If you do not provide any sources, your action of adding incorrect data into the pages will be viewed as vandalism just because you keep tryng to add in incorrect information. Someone has to stop User Animedude from continuously editing opinions into the article. -- Aldis90

I agree. Opinions are not needed here in a factual encyclopedia, so to say. That was why I deleted his edit the first time, but it seems he keeps editing.....Jopchan121 01:04, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not sure if I'm doing this right since this is my first time using discussion. Isn't there some kind of mod or higher up we can ask for help? I highly doubt he/she/it will stop anytime soon.

Signed,

Kahad

what exactly is this person doing (besides putting up false info) ? maybe i can help ya out. Maverick423 16:40, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I want to ask if this kind of information could be added to the Trivia section of verious article of Negima:

Some of the female android shows up during the Mrs Vs Mage bettle, identified as Chachamaru’s sister, have similar hair style as Ku Fei do.

Kaede had made commence on Ku Fei in issue 173 that she has reach the maximum extend of a human’s physical ability and can easily catch up on the use of “Ki’ if properly trained.

Asuna’s fighting style, including the early use of flying kicks, resemble Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach. Her Pactios artifact also looks similar to Ichigo’s zanpakutō: Zangetsu.

Kaede and Kotaro’s fighting style, which composed of the use of Shadow Clone (Kage Bunshin no Jutsu) resemble Naruto Uzumaki’s skill from the early story of Naruto.

Chamo is often called Kamo in fans translation. In issue 173, he claims that ermine type familiar had the ability to detect human’s affection.

I can see that some of the information I list did not fit in the agreement here (such as comparing character with other anime.) Howevr, I still want to know if character comparisons with Love Hina is allowed. I see a lot of those being add and change all the time in one day..... (especially Nodoka's part, people tent to compare her with Shinobu Maehara, Meiko Miyazaki, and Kanako Urashima.)

Zazie Playing a Big role?

edit

Just an opinion/observation but it seems that anyone who stays quiet ends up playing a larger role (Eva, Chao, Setsuna.) I think Zazie is going to play some kind of important role. (Maybe she's knows something everyone else doesn't about Nagi.) But again... just an opinion. Gellister 20:13, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Negima!? Information Deleted

edit

Why was the "Negima!?" information for the characters deleted while the information for the first anime series kept? It is important to have the variations on all the characters from both series, not just the first. -StrangerAtaru 13:26, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree, the first time I came to this section I read the section about Nodoka getting hit by a time displacement bullet and the entire time I watched the first anime series I waited for it. (Until i figured out it was refering to the manga.) Keep the differing series notes to help avoid confusion.)Gellister 20:02, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another thought/complaint: recently there's been a bouncing between whether or not we have images. Sometimes they're up, the next someone takes them down. Can someone explain what is relevant images so we can create a more comprehensive page? -StrangerAtaru 16:06, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've already requested the page for semi-protection because some anon (using different IP addresses) constantly removed what I think are relevant images and Negima!? info on Nodoka. Point him as the culprit. - 上村七美 | talk 02:04, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for helping on this. BTW: do you think there are any other pics that should come up on here? (I also added the yoga pic of Misora on the first page and someone else had "gunslinger Yuna" there as well...also thinking of adding "Brunette Misa"). -StrangerAtaru 02:06, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bad news: request for semi-protection has been denied. Let's keep on eye on this page, as well as Negima!? I've alredy put those two pages on my watchlist. I suggest you put it on yours as well. I've already put warnings enclosing those pictures and sent several vandal warnings as well to that anon. That's what I can do for the meantime. - 上村七美 | talk 03:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This one is already on my watch list, but what's going on with the Negima!? page? Another vandal? -StrangerAtaru 14:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The same anon who constantly removes the images here is also the one who adds senseless info and adds "what people think" into the article, especially on Nodoka's hair. That's what I am talking about. I've already put warnings on them as well, but no luck so far. - 上村七美 | talk 15:00, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Eww, someone really needs to crack down on this. Apparantly this person either loves Nodoka or doesn't like them in Negima!? Though it doesn't explain why they delete the anime pics. Personally may want to put up more anime pics but it may instigate things further unless they have purpose. (the only one I think is really important of the anime pics is Chiu, but only because its crucial to Chisame's character) -StrangerAtaru 15:40, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spilt offs

edit

I'm beginning to believe we should start splitting off girls with enough plot development and story information to their own pages linking back here. (such as Asuna, possibly Chao and Evangeline...mostly since I've seen a lot of Chao work on the page today and it makes me believe we could get away with giving her a seperate article.) -StrangerAtaru 15:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I've proposed on that one about a few months ago. But the respondent refused. But I think Asuna, Nodoka, and all those who went far should have their own articles. They do have their own articles in the Japanese Wikipedia. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
The ones I think that are ready for ones I think are probably Asuna, Nodoka, Chao and Evangeline, possibly Setsuna, Konoka, Yue and Chisame. But I think we should at least start with Asuna. -StrangerAtaru 16:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. We can have sections of her in the manga, in the first series, and in Negima!? plus the differences in-between incarnations. But Wikipedia frowns on trivia sections as per WP: TRIVIA. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 01:03, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well the Asuna page is complete. I tried to make it a bit better it does need a bit of editing and we need a character box. (plus I uploaded another Negima!? pic for her) Nodoka may be next but I don't know if she has enough to seperate.-StrangerAtaru 01:31, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've also added an infobox. Maybe you can use it as a template on the other articles. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 03:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well mission successful so far. I've taken three of the longest articles (Asuna, Nodoka, Eva) and created seperate pages for them. A few others potentially could use pages too if they had more to say or if anyone wants them (in my head the next candidates are Chao, Setsuna and Chisame), but so far I don't think there's enough to really break any of them off like the other three. -StrangerAtaru 20:35, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have a suggestion when you make Setsuna's article (if you will). Upload a picture of a badly-drawn Setsuna beside Konoka wearing a Chupa-T. That will bring home one point. I was tinkering of the idea a long time ago, but I haven't because of other commitments. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 02:04, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Every time I look at Setsuna's article I don't see it as enough for a full page. Heck, even Ayaka has more on the Wiki than Setsuna. The good thing is once a page is created we can add whatever we couldn't on the student page (as long as its within context...adding a couple things to Asuna's page now, mostly in regards to abilities and Negima!?), but do you think Setsuna has enough for a separate page? (my feelings is that if I do another, the next will be Chao) -StrangerAtaru 02:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
That's why it's just a suggestion; it's just a proposal in case you have plans. But you can take it when you do. But let's stick with how far the others have gone and what we have so far. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 02:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
To tell the truth I've just been playing it by ear. No one really wanted to create those pages and I just went ahead over the last day and did three. So far they are still more like the original entries on the character listings but hopefully they will form into really good character pages. And once we get the hang of Asuna, Nodoka and Eva, I'm open to creating any more pages. However, since I know we can't really do too many for the really minor girls who don't have exposure (trust me, I've seen a lot of pruning on the Bleach and Naruto pages as of late), we still need the student rosters. -StrangerAtaru 03:01, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looking good. They'll need some grammar hammer clean up. Sourcing and citation. And then some out-of-universe material, which is starting to be difficult to attain. KyuuA4 02:59, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chisame

edit

Go ahead with splitting Chisame. While I only keep up with the Del Ray releases, I was made aware of her increased character involvement in later chapters (past 138 to 169). KyuuA4 02:59, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Chisame will probably be my last real major split off for the moment...I sort of debated on her and Ayaka but iincho had a longer article. Somehow after this, most of the majors will have individual articles. (outside some like Yue, Haruna, Makie and such) -StrangerAtaru 03:01, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

-- Kaede and "-dono" --

"She also has a tendency to address people, particularly in the second series, with the honorific "-dono" ("lord", used by samurai towards superiors; example: Asuna-dono, Setsuna-dono) which is ironic considering she is a ninja (often called the "anti-samurai")."

While it is true that the dono honorific can mean "lord," Samurai lords would address each other with this honorific as well whether the other samurai was superior or not. In "Negima," "dono" is used by Kaede to convey a great deal of respect for her comrades and classmates but without being in a submissive position (as would be the case if she used "sama"). Plus, its usage shows furthers her ties to the archaic form of speech (along with "de gozaru" as noted in the article). As such I wonder if a little clarification isn't in order because Kaede isn't viewing Asuna or Setsuna as superiors as such per se, but as respected comrades and classmates. 32.97.110.142 (talk) 05:26, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copywritten image crackdown

edit

I've noticed we've got a new tag regarding using too many "copywritten" images for the page. If we have to take them down, fine, but I say we should at least take down the ones for characters who already have articles or whom we have another image as representation (Zazie, Yuna). -StrangerAtaru (talk) 13:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

For those who have articles, it's OK to take them down. But those who still have no individual articles yet, they should be retained. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 00:01, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Done: all characters with articles have their images removed. Almost thought of doing the same with characters with two pics but no articles but all of them sort of are crucial whether for anime depiction (Misa, Misora) or important to their character (Yuna, Zazie). -StrangerAtaru (talk) 00:06, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why stop there? Remove all the images! For that matter, remove all the information too because a case could be made that it is copyrighted as well. I hate Wikipedia! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.218.70.170 (talk) 14:31, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, best to take down ALL the student images for now,and find a way around this copyright B.S.Spikebaron (talk) 19:40, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Explanation of -dono honorific

edit

We presently have the explanation, ""-dono" ("lord", used by samurai towards superiors; example: Asuna-dono, Setsuna-dono)." I do not think this is accurate; there are examples in literature of samurai treating honorable enemies or disengaged neutrals that they deem worthy of respect with this honorific. As it is not exclusively used towards superiors, it would be more accurate to simply call it a mark of respect. Superiors, particularly lords, are generally given the honorific -sama.

Also, while it is true that samurai were typically the ones to employ "-dono," and ninja were not considered honorable warriors, still they were warriors and I lack the basis to say that there is anything ironic about them reflexively using the language. -Dono generally implied respect for someone as a warrior. A source for the assertion that ninja did not use "-dono" would be nice. -moritheilTalk 04:18, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I guess no one could find a source. This was deleted, so it's resolved. -moritheilTalk 18:54, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
