Hello...

Nobody has added anything to this article, after i edited it. I have no idea how well the film did in the Japanese Cinemas. If anybody knows please add it to the article, or any other useful info about the movie. tx. A J Damen 13:04, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

For that particular fact, see Case Closed (manga)#Movies; I have added that completely sourced info ages ago. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 17:19, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

– The films based on the Japanese manga and anime series 名探偵コナン (known as Case Closed in English countries), are also named as 名探偵コナン at the beginning of these films' titles in Japanese language. For the first to sixth films for 名探偵コナン, English Wikipedia calls them as Case Closed at the beginning of their titles, which is same as the English name for 名探偵コナン. However, for the seventh to twenty-third films for 名探偵コナン, English Wikipedia calls them as Detective Conan at the beginning of their titles. The Japanese manga and anime series 名探偵コナン never changes its name in Japanese and English language (as Case Closed), but for the titles' beginning part of the films for 名探偵コナン, English Wikipedia calls former 6 as Case Closed, but calls later 17 as Detective Conan, which result in chaos. In conclusion, it is necessary to replace Detective Conan with Case Closed in the titles of the 17 films for 名探偵コナン in English Wikipedia, in order to avoid chaos. In addition, the movie also called Case Closed but irrelevant to 名探偵コナン, was filmed in 1988 in the United States. In order to distinguish from the films for 名探偵コナン (known as Case Closed in English countries), the United States film should be called "Case Closed (US film)" in English Wikipedia. 167.179.104.51 08:04, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

  • Oppose If I understand this correctly, the films were only released in Japan, where it still has the name "Detective Conan". Therefore it would be incorrect to call them by the English name of the franchise, which would be WP:SYNTH on your part, as they never recieved an English name. The current naming scheme seems to make sense to me if the ones called "Case Closed" actually saw an English release.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:13, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose moves. The seventh film and onward were never released in English, so Zxcvbnm's argument wins out. It would be incorrect to use the English name for films never released in English. O.N.R. (talk) 01:33, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Zxcvbnm, Old Naval Rooftops, and In ictu oculi: The Japanese manga and anime series 名探偵コナン has two English name Case Closed (known in English countries) and Detective Conan (directly translated from the Japanese name 名探偵コナン). When Wikipedia names the related articles about the same thing (here is the Japanese manga and anime series 名探偵コナン), it should refer to the same thing with the same name to avoid confusion and chaos. In your opinion, for the 17 films for 名探偵コナン, the beginning part of their titles in English language should be called Detective Conan instead of Case Closed (of course the beginning part of the 17 films' titles in Japanese language are called 名探偵コナン, same with the manga and anime series' Japanese name). Thus, for the related Wikipedia articles' names, like List of Case Closed films (including Case Closed: The Time Bombed Skyscraper, Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target, Case Closed: The Last Wizard of the Century, Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes, Case Closed: Countdown to Heaven and Case Closed: The Phantom of Baker Street); furthermore, Case Closed, List of Case Closed episodes (seasons 1–15) (including Case Closed (season 1), Case Closed (season 2), Case Closed (season 3), Case Closed (season 4), Case Closed (season 5), Case Closed (season 6), Case Closed (season 7), Case Closed (season 8), Case Closed (season 9), Case Closed (season 10), Case Closed (season 11), Case Closed (season 12), Case Closed (season 13), Case Closed (season 14) and Case Closed (season 15)), List of Case Closed episodes (seasons 16–current) (including Case Closed (season 16), Case Closed (season 17), Case Closed (season 18), Case Closed (season 19), Case Closed (season 20), Case Closed (season 21), Case Closed (season 22), Case Closed (season 23), Case Closed (season 24), Case Closed (season 25), Case Closed (season 26) and Case Closed (season 27)), List of Case Closed volumes (including List of Case Closed volumes (1–20), List of Case Closed volumes (21–40), List of Case Closed volumes (41–60), List of Case Closed volumes (61–80) and List of Case Closed volumes (81–current)), List of Case Closed OVAs, List of Case Closed characters, Case Closed discography, List of Case Closed video games and List of Case Closed live action drama episodes, Wikipedia should replace Case Closed with Detective Conan, in order to unify the English name for 名探偵コナン in Wikipedia and avoid confusion and chaos. Because 名探偵コナン has another English name Case Closed (in English countries, Case Closed mostly refers to 名探偵コナン), the 1988 United States film also named as Case Closed should be called Case Closed (US film) in Wikipedia in order to distinguish from the films for 名探偵コナン. 165.22.251.184 04:28, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
