Proposed deletion of article

edit

This is an incredibly minor piece of a larger topic. Just have it as a section in his 2024 campaign article Eg224 (talk) 22:58, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Disagree. It's a historic event and has more than enough weight to stand on its own. David O. Johnson (talk) 02:42, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the above comment completely. User:Jgstokes (talk)—We can disagree without becoming disagreeable. 04:30, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Deletion of this article has already been proposed, and failed. BD2412 T 22:18, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Source link pointing to Joe Biden's tweet where he announced his withdrawal and a separate link to his separate support for kamala to take his place. As it stands it looks as if wiki is trying to say he both withdrew and endorsed at the same time but this did not happen all at once. 67.204.145.169 (talk) 17:02, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 17:17, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed addition of Representative Dean Phillips concerns of Joe Biden's age and electability before and during the 2024 Democratic Primary race for the Nomination for President

edit

On July 28, 2022, U.S. Representative Dean Phillips became the first incumbent Democratic member of Congress to say President Biden should not run for re-election and called for "generational change," pointing to Biden's age.[1]

On October 27, 2023, Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips formally launched his presidential campaign for the Democratic nomination.[2] Phillips argued during his campaign that president Biden would be a weak general election candidate due to his age and low approval ratings.[3]

On January 20, 2024, as Biden's main opponent in the Democratic primary for President, Phillips told Axios that he thinks it would be "impossible" for Biden to do the job for four more years. And even being so blunt as to say, "At that stage of life, it is impossible ultimately to conduct, to prosecute the office of the American presidency in the way that this country in the world needs right now. That is an absolute truth."[4]

Congressman Phillips finished as the second placed candidate in the 2024 Democratic Primaries.

This information is relevant to Joe Biden's withdrawal and should be included in this Wikipedia page. Smobes (talk) 03:08, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the Biden age and health concerns section, after the sentence that says, "Health concerns surrounding Biden emerged during his presidency, primarily about his age and ability to carry out a second term." I think we should add, "On July 28, 2022, U.S. Representative Dean Phillips became the first incumbent Democratic member of Congress to say President Biden should not run for re-election and called for "generational change," pointing to Biden's age."[1] Smobes (talk) 17:44, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

In Biden's candidacy section, after where it says, "Biden proposed and enacted targeted tariffs against strategic Chinese industries to protect manufacturing jobs and counter China's technological and military ambitions." we should add that "Biden faced opposition from Representative Dean Phillips during the 2024 Democratic party primaries. Phillips argued during his campaign that Biden would be a weak general election candidate due to concerns about his age and low approval ratings.[2][3] Smobes (talk) 18:00, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done I've combined these into a single edit request. I added the first suggestion to the end of the paragraph so as not to break up what was already there, and I added the second as suggested. I also removed a few of the links to avoid overlinking or duplicate links. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 23:02, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
