Sepearate articles
Should a sepparate article be made for Animal Crossing DS? Or should we worry about that when it comes out in 2005? Joiz 14:37, Jul 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Wait until it comes out. There isn't very much information about it yet. --NessSnorlax
- We should wait, but the page should be separated into smaller pages anyway. The calendar events section is as long as hell and this is one of the longer pages for any video game on the 'pedia. The DS version will definetly rock, though! Please, add anything new you find about the game ASAP! I need to know everything about it!
- OH! And we should try and get a picture and a link up for the DS version as well to give people a better idea of what the game is. - thealexfish 3/24/05 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.41.212.250 (talk • contribs) .
Blech.
That was me that reworked the Game section and added the museum section. The is the second time that I took so long writing something that I apparently got logged out. Annoying. Anyways, if you have any comments about it. --Pagrashtak 19:34, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

- Person, dun waste your time. Go to neopets and their AC guilds to link links. LTTP, dun waste your time, either. Y'all both are being major arses over this. --Marudita 23:16, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- For one, this is over a month old. For another, there is nothing bad about trying to define what's notable for external links. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:24, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
The Trading Function
Shouldn't the item trading function used through Passwords be mentioned? It is probably the most popular function in the game. -Occono
Gameplay
I added information on villagers, time travel, and multiplayer play to the gameplay section. Now that I look at it, it seems terribly disorganized. I'm considering combining the "fish and insects" and "museum" sections into a single "collecting" section, and folding the "happy room academy" into "house improvments". I'm not so sure we need such a detailed explanation of the HRA, either. Are we trying to make a FAQ or provide an overview of the game itself? Any comments are welcome. BCampbell 02:00, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- I agree, BCampbell. There were too many details for it to be a proper encyclopedia article. -- Commander Nemet 23:20, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Tom Nook Knowledge
Does anyone know all of the shop versions, there are some missing in the article. If you know any of them, could you add them. Much thanks, HC x
- That content really belongs at Wikibooks, not in this article. --Pagrashtak 18:58, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Only Nintendo?
Is this game only available on Nintendo? Why isn't it available on other platforms like PS2 or whatever?--Sonjaaa 09:00, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- This game is available only on the GameCube because it has been developed and published by Nintendo itself. Have you ever seen Super Mario Bros. or The Legend of Zelda on the PlayStation? Mushroom 16:40, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's also on the DS now, FYI. ^_^ --Moped 03:00, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- No, that's Animal Crossing: Wild World, a separate game. --Pagrashtak 03:13, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's also on the DS now, FYI. ^_^ --Moped 03:00, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Well...Animal Crossing Wild World is a different version of the game--there is a lot that's changed but it is the same game. But, it's still Nintendo only. AC:WW is on the Nintendo DS so that doesn't help someone who wants to play it on playstation :) TStein 08:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Update....
I have changed around the DUMMY subject to "Common Bugs". I have also added pictures. The "Lost my Face!" area requires some info, and i'm looking for help on that! Thanx! --Moped 02:59, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Someone who knows should add whether or not the No Face glitch is permanent or not. I think that's what most people will be wondering when they read it. --Shroom Mage 04:46, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have fixed the problem! *wink* --Moped 20:07, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

- It's a little more complicated than that... you need to have a perfect town message from the Wishing Well for several weeks before you get a golden axe... there is no watering can in Animal Crossing; perhaps you're thinking of AC: Wild World?
Section Cleanup
I cleaned up the "Characters" section. Just so you know. Shadoman 20:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Pointless Secret
I removed the following information, I felt it was hard to understand the point the author was trying to make, and the point that I got was that If you don't put items in the dump, they won't disappear. I felt this was too obvious to be included in a "Secrets" section. Also, the author used terrible spelling and grammar. This was the information, unedited from it was:
- "Keep your idems that you throw away Throw away a idem anywhere but the dump so if you want the idem back justgo where you throw it away." XXDucky21Xx 01:59, 23 July 2006 (UTC
Series Article
I think Animal Crossng definetly needs a series article. Most video games have one, and AC will have four games soon (including Animal Forest). It's just confusing here... there's some information for the whole series of AC and some for the GCN game. I think Wikipedia really needs this.
Source on Pelly and Phyllis being sisters?
I've never heard of them being sisters before. Is this true, and if it is, what's the source? --Spring Rubber 06:38, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Bugs and fish
The lists of where bugs and fish are and their price is similar in theme to a FAQ or walkthrough. It should be removed, but I'm gonna wait a couple of days to do it, in case someone wants to transwiki it. Just a heads up. --Niroht 02:19, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I personally would like the see this info remain, because it illustrates how detailed the game world is, and doesn't break "A general rule of thumb to follow if unsure: if the content only has value to people actually playing the game, it's unsuitable." as the value is in the illustration of the games detail. To be fair, the game is designed to be similar to life, and thus most aspects of the game would make sense to someone who's never played it, but for this to really be like a walkthrough it would need to give advice on catching bugs rather than merely listing the bugs that are featured in the game. Admittedly giving price and seasons would help players looking for the bugs, but it also shows non-players how complex the ingame ecosystem and economy are - merely stating that bugs vary at different times of year could be taken to mean something as crude as one set of bugs appearing in winter months, one in summer, with the seasons being split in half into winter/summer. --Joenixon 14:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- The guidelines are clear: no advice, suggestions, tutorials, guides, manuals per 8th information policy. In-game information that says how to get something, how much it costs, what it is used for, when it is available or when it must be used, etc, does not fit Wikipedia. If you want to include that information, use prose. Instead of lists with all that information, use a paragraph like In Animal Crossing it is possible to catch several bugs, including ants, bagworms, banded dragonflies, bees, bell crickets, etc. -- ReyBrujo 17:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
AMIB wanted me to post here.
AMIB, you're being a nuisance. Continue ignoring the AfD result and I'll ensure that you're blocked for disrupting the peace and civility of Wikipedia. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:57, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- If there's any encyclopedic information that was in that article, feel free to merge it here. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 08:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- You feel to miss the "keep" result. There was no indication that a merge was what anyone wished for. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:13, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
What is going on and is there any way I can help? --Niroht 18:57, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- AMIB is trying to turn Characters in the Animal Crossing series into a redirect, despite the result of its AfD being keep. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:02, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay, look. AMID, I'm afraid you can't just turn something into a redirect because you think it's unecyclopedic. The topic was put up to discussion, and the consensus was to keep it. If you were going to go and delete it or whatever you want to call it anyway, you might have well just not participated in the AFD. Keep in mind that
- Problem article covers the characters of both Animal Crossing games, and may continue to cover characters in future games as well. Redirecting to this one page is detrimental to the encyclopedia effort.
- Just because an article is currently unencyclopedic does not mean that it will never be.
- List pages tend to be mores suitable for the information covered in Problem article than article-type pages. It is more encyclopedic to have a list of characters with short descriptions than it is to put a list into a more formal article. Yes, you may think that everything that does not fit into the main article is not noticable, but everyone is not you. It is preferrable to have a small amount of information, placed properly, than to have no information at all.
Merge from Pitfall (Animal Crossing)
I don't know any delicate way to say this. Having an article solely about pitfalls in Animal Crossing is just from Bizarro World. - Stellmach 22:51, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Makes plenty of sense to me. I say merge. --Niroht 16:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Merge? Delete! I don't think Animal Crossing needs to be clogged up any more than it already is with details about an extremely minor and unimportant item. Can't this just be prodded? Hammer Raccoon 20:24, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- The pitfall article should just be deleted. RobJ1981 12:53, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

- --I agree --69.182.119.75 20:56, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Why should it? Can you give reasons? I'm afraid that last I checked IP votes don't count, especially when they're just agreements. --Niroht 01:12, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- --Eh... I'll say why. Well Animal Crossing will soon have four games, and all other series with this many games has a series article. Please read my discussion topic I posted here a while ago- a few topics up.--69.182.119.75 02:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Understandable. I see the idea, just keep in mind that this article is about the Gamecube version of the game, so I'm not sure splitting is the best way to go about it. Possibly writing a new article for each would work....--Niroht 02:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- --Well that's my point basically. This article is suppose to be for the GCN game, but everyone is trying to fit series information in it as well. I think it's a mess... A series article is needed. And I'm not sure why Animal Forest never had it's own article... --69.182.119.75 19:27, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi, sorry to revive the discussion, but I really think that Animal Forest and Animal Crossing should be merged as they are essentially the same game and two articles will just be repeating the same information. A better solution would be to have a section in one article describing the differences between the two versions. If you look at the Animal Forest article, it is just a confusing stub with inaccurate information. Timkovski 17:45, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Citing...
This article does not need to cite more sources. The places where it says "citation needed" doesn't make any sense. All other games don't cite information about when the game was released. It's common knowledge, why would it be cited? Also, most of this information in the article isn't comming from sources other than the games and their guides. --Gyroid 22:38, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Tom Nook
Tom Nook is a Tanuki, I don't care what the english translation says. That is just a translation, it doesn't change the actual fact. Changing tanuki to "raccoon" for english translations is quite common, probably because most english speaking people have no idea what a tanuki is. But a translation change or oversight does not change the simple fact that he is, indeed, a raccoon dog. Even his name "Tom Nook" is a play on the word "Tanuki" ("Tomnooki"?)PiccoloNamek 05:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- There isn't an "actual fact". In the Japanese version, he's a tanuki. In the English version, he's a raccoon. Since we favor naming most familiar to English-language readers (as this is en.wiki, after all), he's a raccoon in this terse list. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 05:49, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- Do translation things mean that we should be calling Bass Forte? I really don't see why small changes from version to version are so hard to grasp....Nook's a raccoon. Deal with it. If you really want him to be a tanuki, go buy the Japanese version.--Niroht 19:27, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
