Merger Proposal edit

Due to the similarities between pages ASSC & its direct predecessors ASDE-X, Airport Movement Area Safety System, (and potentially, other stub pages like surface movement radar), I propose a merger and consolidation of these topics into one main page on the subject of airport surveillance/broadcast systems (or another name, if more suitable).

Consolidation will solve a couple issues:

  • Unnecessary compartmentalization of one topic (airport surveillance/broadcast systems) into multiple pages which may be not be obvious to a user who only finds one of the existing pages.
  • Duplicated information on each page due to ASSC & ASDE-X being nearly-identical stubs with only minor differences in content.
  • More streamlined referencing of this technology on other pages like ADS-B and Runway Status Lights

Comment Feels like Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System might also be related. There's probably quite a few start class and stub articles out there that could be consolidated but I don't feel qualified enough to understand the most appropriate way to group them by notable topics. Almost everything in the Template:Air traffic control except the Air traffic control article itself looks like it could use review for possible merging as well. N8 16:54, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
