There are some people who believe this article shouldn't exist because this band isn't notable enough despite their nationwide success. I disagree with their position however and would prefer that User:Delicious carbuncle (the main antagonist of this article) would put his opinion here and not edit the article to send people to another article that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject.IzzyReal (talk) 20:49, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, why not do a quick Google search and actually learn about the notability of the band or read their Wikipedia article for quick reference? Please if you are going to ignore that they are a notable band then you could at least have it redirect to the band's page instead of to an article about the cemetery.IzzyReal (talk) 21:13, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

This just got brought to my attention. The band is absolutely notable, in the same manner that Dr. Steel was decided to be notable. They do not have nationwide chart success, but within their genre of music and the subculture in which they place themselves, they are considered the most prominent steampunk band, and easily pass WP:Band, sections A:7 and C:1 and 5, and the list of references appended here clearly show that the album itself is notable in the genre. However, this should be taken up on the main Abney Park (band) page at any rate, not have this page blanked out because of someone's objection to the band itself. If Delicious carbuncle does not cease vandalizing this page, I will petition to have it semi-protected and may request sanctions. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 22:33, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Whether or not the band is notable, this particular album is not. Per WP:NALBUM I have redirected it to the band's article. I didn't want to revert User:IzzyReal's changes as vandalism because they are a fairly new user and explained all this on their talk page. The IP that reverted clearly belongs to IzzyReal, so I'll probably take this to An/I rather than revert again since the same situation exists on the other albums. Yes the IP does belong to me it's called accidentally logging out.IzzyReal (talk) 22:46, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
According to WP:NALBUMS: "All articles on albums, singles or songs must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. In general, if the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia." According to that criteria, since the band is considered notable, and the album has significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, as shown by the references - the second, fifth and sixth ones, notably (and more could be added), the album is notable. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 23:03, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Reviews" section edit

At this time the article includes an entire section of "Reviews", from sources whose reliability are suspect don't seem that reliable. Perhaps it should be removed. It doesn't seem to comply with WP:RS and WP:NPOV.--PinkBull 02:34, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The point of adding that section was to establish the album's notability, since it was argued that the reason it was put up for deletion review was that although the band was notable, the album itself was not notable in any way. Whereas all of the reviews from within the steampunk community are saying entirely the opposite, that it is perhaps their most significant album to date. Notability is subjective. The album is not notable in that it's topping any national charts, but within it's specific genre of music it is being heralded and is therefore highly notable.
This article is "on trial", and this is the evidence; it would be unfair to remove the evidence and not give the album a fair hearing (no pun intended). However, if this section needs to be removed or rewritten after the deletion review (or even rewritten beforehand), or the "evidence" moved to the AfD page, I personally have no problem with that. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 03:37, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
