- "prior to" → "before" (less wordy)
- Remove the comma after "two years before".
- "an attendance 78,481" → "an attendance of 78,481"
- Add a hyphen between "quarter final".
- "the Soviet Union were" → "the Soviet Union was"
- "players appeals" → "players' appeals"
- Add a hyphen between "highest scoring".
- "Kutnetsov" - typo?
- Remove the comma after "across the goalmouth".
- "give Soviet Union" → "give the Soviet Union"
