periyar
editthe author says he was still party of Congress during this election. but his article says otherwise. if he has just left the party before the election, it could be included in the background section as well. --CarTick 01:13, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- he left in 1925 i think. let me look at refs.--Sodabottle (talk) 04:42, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- left congress in november 25 kanchipuram session [1], launched self respect movement in decemeber 25 [2], [3],[4]. The reason for confusion is this, he didnt' formally resigned congress membership till 1927 [5]. But for all intents and purposes he was out of congress and trying to defeat congress in 26.--Sodabottle (talk) 05:22, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- that seems correct. Like I said, Periyar's departure from Congress could be added in the background section. --CarTick 06:34, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

congress and swarajists
editthe relationship between Swarajists and Congress seem to be kind of weird. They leave Congress so they can contest in elections only to not form government after this election listening to Congress's advice... --CarTick
- the end goal for both was the same - wrecking constitutional machinery. they both view dyarchy as unjust. but differ on how to tackle it. swarajists want to work from within to disrupt the administration, while congress wants nothing to do with the administration. Eventually congress came around to the fact, dyarchy existed and if they didnt have some sort of presence in the legislature, power will just by pass them. So Swarajists became nothing more than a electoral arm of the congress. --Sodabottle (talk) 05:11, 23 December 2009 (UTC)they started
