Richard F. Kishel (November 3, 1923 - September 8, 2010) was an American Marine Corps veteran, Ball State University Professor, Entrepreneur and award-winning Artist. The Minnesota native settled in Indiana after an extensive education in Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa where he left a lasting impression on his students and his community through his teaching and legacy artwork.

Biography

Richard F. Kishel was born on November 3, 1923, in Virginia, Minnesota. He pursued higher education at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Kishel later obtained a master's degree in art education from the University of Iowa.[1]

Kishel moved to Muncie, Indiana, in 1951, where he became involved with the local art scene and was a Professor for Ball State University at their Burris Laboratory School. [2]

Besides his landmark sculptures created at his Art-Forms Studio, he also illustrated for a scholarly book in 1965.[3]

Kishel passed away on September 8, 2010, at the age of 86.[4]
